Answer

ANVL supports reporting at multiple levels:

  • ANVL Insights for site-level and operational reporting

  • In-product analytics for quick takeaways and AI-supported issue detection

  • Power BI for organization-level and cross-site analysis

  • APIs and custom analytics for advanced reporting needs

Use this overview to understand how the tools fit together before diving into the more detailed report-specific articles.

Steps

  1. Start with ANVL Insights when you need day-to-day, site-level oversight.

    • best for supervisors, site leaders, and regional users

    • used to review the Live Feed, filter activity, export local data, and monitor work by site, user, workflow, or time

  2. Use in-product analytics when you need quick answers without deep analysis.

    • includes built-in dashboards

    • may include Insights AI if your access is enabled

    • best for identifying major site-level issues, leading indicators, and fast takeaways

  3. Use Power BI when you need broader reporting across multiple Groups or over time.

    • best for executives, EHS leaders, and enterprise reporting users

    • used for trend analysis, cross-site comparisons, scorecards, and broader leadership reporting

    • standard template reports cover many common reporting needs

  4. Use APIs and custom analytics when standard reporting is not enough.

    • best for internal analytics teams or organizations with custom reporting needs

    • used to combine ANVL data with other systems, build custom dashboards, or support advanced analytics strategies

  5. Match the tool to the reporting question.

    Use ANVL Insights for:

    • what is happening at this site right now

    • what was submitted today or this week

    • what needs review or follow-up

    Use in-product analytics for:

    • quick issue identification

    • high-level trends or summaries

    • AI-supported insights, if enabled

    Use Power BI for:

    • how sites compare

    • how metrics are trending over time

    • how the organization is performing overall

Use APIs / custom analytics for:

    • business-specific metrics

    • custom dashboards

    • external reporting or combined data models

  6. Use the next articles in the module to go deeper.

    • review the standard Power BI template reports

    • learn how to request custom analytics support

    • understand how APIs fit into a broader reporting strategy

  7. If you have not completed the Reporting Basics module yet, start there first before using this advanced module.
