When uploading media to a workflow question in ANVL, the error “Failed to save answer. Please retry.” may appear if the uploaded file type is not supported.

To resolve the issue, confirm that the file is one of the supported media types before uploading it again.

ANVL currently supports the following media file types:

Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif
Videos: .mp4

If the file is not one of the supported types, convert or save the file as a supported format and upload the new version to ANVL.


Steps

  1. Check the file type of the media being uploaded.

    • The file type is usually shown at the end of the file name, such as .jpg, .png, or .mp4.

  2. Confirm the file type is supported in ANVL.

    • Supported image types: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif

    • Supported video type: .mp4

  3. If the file type is not supported, convert or save the file as a supported type.

    • For images, save or convert the file to .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .gif.

    • For videos, save or convert the file to .mp4.

  4. Upload the supported file to the workflow question.

  5. Submit the workflow again.

Conversion Steps by Device

iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Photos app.

  2. Select the photo or video.

  3. Tap the Share icon.

  4. Choose Save to Files if you need to save a copy to your device.

  5. If the file still does not upload, open the photo or video in an app that allows export or conversion.

  6. Select Export, Save As, or Share.

  7. Save the file as a supported type:

    • Image: JPEG, JPG, PNG, or GIF

    • Video: MP4

  8. Upload the new supported file to ANVL.

Android

  1. Open the Gallery, Photos, or Files app.

  2. Select the photo or video.

  3. Tap the Share or More options menu.

  4. Choose Save as, Export, or Convert, if available.

  5. Save the file as a supported type:

    • Image: JPEG, JPG, PNG, or GIF

    • Video: MP4

  6. If those options are not available, open the file in a photo, video, or file conversion app on the device.

  7. Save the converted copy.

  8. Upload the new supported file to ANVL.

Windows Computer

  1. Right-click the image file.

  2. Select Open with > Paint.

  3. In Paint, select File > Save as.

  4. Choose JPEG picture or PNG picture.

  5. Save the new copy.

  6. Upload the new supported file to ANVL.

Mac Computer

  1. Open the image in Preview.

  2. Select File > Export.

  3. Choose a supported file type, such as JPEG or PNG.

  4. Save the new copy.

  5. Upload the new supported file to ANVL.

Video Files

  1. Open the video in the video editing or conversion tool available on your device.

  2. Select Save As, Export, or Convert.

  3. Choose MP4 as the file type.

  4. Save the new copy.

  5. Upload the new supported file to ANVL.
