Review Prioritization

This article provides an overview of how review prioritization is configured within Applause and how it works

Review Prioritization allows businesses to display multiple review sources instead of being limited to just one (displaying only Google or Facebook). This creates a more flexible, customer-friendly way to collect reviews and increases the chances of capturing feedback across platforms.

Why this Matters

Previously, customers were always directed to a single review platform. This created two common issues:

  • Customers without an account on that platform couldn’t leave a review

  • Customers who had already reviewed there had no alternative option

With this new functionality, you can guide customers to other review sources, improving engagement and maximizing review volume.

Availability

Review Prioritization is only available in the Essentials Plus package and requires your Applause Support team to enable it for your account. Please reach out to your customer success manager if you’d like this feature turned on.

How it Works

With this feature, you can add flexibility to your review requests and customize messaging for your customers.

Navigate to “Home” on the left-hand menu. Select Locations, and click on the location you want to update.

After selecting your location, go to “Reviews” under Default service settings. Select “Add review source.”

Select other review sources you want to add from the drop-down menu.

Note: Currently, Facebook is the only additional review platform (besides Google) that supports automatic review matching and auto-bonusing within Applause. Other platforms can still be used for review collection, but they will not trigger automated matching or bonus workflows.

Customize the title, message, and URL for each source and create a unique call-to-action for every platform.

After setting up your review sources, you can arrange them using drag-and-drop controls.

Tip: The order matters. The sequence you set determines the order customers see the review options (first, second, third, etc.).

Example Use Case & Benefits

With Review Prioritization, customers who don’t have an account on the first review platform, or who have already left a review there, can be directed to an alternative source on their next post-service request. This ensures a smooth experience, increases total reviews, and maximizes engagement.

Key Benefits:

  • More review opportunities across multiple platforms

  • Better customer experience and higher engagement rates

  • Greater visibility and credibility for your business

Best Practices:

  • Prioritize your most valuable review source first

  • Use clear, friendly messaging in each CTA

  • Keep URLs accurate and tested

  • Review performance periodically and adjust the order as needed

This update gives you greater control over your review strategy and helps capture feedback wherever your customers are most comfortable leaving it.
