Roof / Wall Plane Options

The Roof/Wall Plane Options dialog allows you to control how roof and wall planes are displayed in your model β€” either as filled areas or as cross-hatched lines.
These display preferences affect both the on-screen view and printed reports.

You can change these settings by going to Set-Up > Preference Settings > System Preferences to open the Preferences dialog box. Then click the [Plane Options] button to open the Set Roofing Plane Styles dialog box.

Roof Wizard dialog box - Plane Options - Set Roofing Plane Styles

πŸ–₯️ Display Style Options

Option

Description

Filled Planes

Displays planes as filled surfaces rather than hatched outlines.

When selected, you can adjust Filled Plane Intensity to make the fill lighter or darker.
πŸ’‘ A value around 0.30 – 0.40 is generally optimal for clear visibility without overpowering the drawing.

Hatched Planes

Displays planes with a hatch pattern instead of solid fills.

When selected, additional settings become available:
β€’ Style – Choose the line type (dashed, dotted, or solid).
β€’ Weight – Set the line thickness for on-screen and printed output.

🎨 Colour Assignments

Each material category can be assigned any colour number.
Colour numbers can represent any colour and are defined using:
CAD > Defaults > Colour Table

⚠️ Important:
Colour numbers may be used for multiple entity types (e.g., lines, fills, dimensions).
If you change a colour number for roof/wall planes, it may affect other areas where that same colour number is used.

For more info see Colour Table.

πŸ’Ύ Applying and Saving Settings

Once you have adjusted your preferences:

  1. Select [Apply] to immediately apply the new settings to your current job.

  2. Select [OK] (and [OK] again in the Preferences dialog) to confirm and save.

  3. When you File > Save your job, these plane display settings are also stored with the model.

βœ… Your chosen plane style (filled or hatched) and colour settings will automatically carry over to all subsequent jobs unless changed.
