What is the recommended Wi-Fi range for the Hydropack, and does it vary by model?
Hydropack 3.0 and earlier: The effective Wi-Fi range depends on your router’s signal strength. If you experience connectivity issues, using a Wi-Fi extender—readily available online for around $80—can help ensure a stable connection.
Hydropack 4.0 and later: To be updated later. Do not mention externally for now.
Does the Hydropack store operational data locally if it goes offline? Does the data cache and then catch up when it comes back online?
Customers don’t have access to the data at this moment. We are working towards complete this functionality as part of the feature development to give customers analytics as access to their data.
Should a Hydropack be connected to an external storage tank if it already has internal storage?
Yes. We strongly recommend pairing the Hydropack series with an external storage tank to maximize water availability and meet higher usage demands.
How easy is it to use a Hydropack or Hydropixel as a backup to an existing water source?
Integrating the unit as a backup is straightforward. Typically, an external storage tank and minor plumbing work are all that is needed to tap into an existing water supply system.
How simple is it to tie into an existing solar energy system?
If your home already runs on a grid-tied solar energy system, the machine simply plugs into the household’s electrical circuit. In effect, it will be powered by your solar system.
If your home’s solar energy system is not tied to the grid, schedule a Discovery call with our team so we can assess how your system and ours will tie together.
Can the machine run on DC power if the home is fully solar-powered?
The machines require standard 220 V - 240V single phase AC power input. However, if your solar setup provides AC power through an inverter (common in many residential solar installations), the unit will run off that solar source.
How are minerals added to the Hydropack system, and are they natural?
Aquaria does not mineralize the Hydropack series. Mineral addition can be performed through an inline mineral cartridge or an equivalent system post external water storage tank.
Is it possible to connect a Hydropixel to an external tank?
The Hydropixel is not designed for external tank integration. Any modifications to enable external storage would void the warranty.
Do you have recommendations for general contractors (GCs) who can manage solar or plumbing work?
Aquaria has a list of preferred installation partners who often times can support with solar and plumbing needs. Additional work done outside the scope of the installation of the Aquaria unit must be directly coordinated with the GC.
How complex is it to integrate the unit with existing home water lines?
It is easy to integrate an Aquaria’s Hydropack into an existing home water line. The water from the Hydropack can be stockpiled in an external water storage tank and connected into the home through a valve to provide water service to your home.
During freezing temperatures or when the external pump is switched off for an extended period (such as during extended travel), what happens to the water in the tank?
If the water in the tank is exposed to sub-freezing temperatures for an extended period of time, the water will turn from it’s liquid to solid state. To safeguard your tank, it is highly recommended to drain your tank to a maximum of 75% to account for the fact that water expands by 9% when changing from liquid water to ice. You must drain all liquid from the Hydropack to ensure no pumps are at risk of bursting.
What is the recommended tolerance for proximity to walls or other objects for both the machine and its intake vents?
It is recommended to maintain at least 10 feet (3 meters) of clearance on the sides of the unit, ensuring the intake fans are unobstructed by walls or large objects. Proper airflow is essential—both the intake and exhaust vents must remain unobstructed. To optimize water generation, the exhaust air should be directed away from the intake to prevent recirculation.
When does the internal pump initiate water output?
When the float sensor reaches the high level, the pump will automatically activate if pump mode is on.
If the machine is off and drained, how can I tell when it is ready for use again once turned on?
Please follow the winterization guide on how to restart the machine and ensure clean filters for proper water production. If the machine has been turned off for greater than 2 weeks.
Should the drip tray outlet be plumbed into the main tank as well?
No. The unfiltered water outlet is just to empty the internal tank of the Hydropack unit such as when preparing the unit for winterization.
How thick should the concrete pad be for installing a Hydropack?
The concrete pad must be at least 4 inches thick and reinforced with rebar. For the Hydropack X, a minimum thickness of 6 inches is recommended to support its weight and prevent settling.
If multiple large cisterns are on the property, will multiple external pumps be needed for different homes?
This depends on the plumbing setup and it is recommended to confer with a professional plumber to provide the best recommendation.
NO NOT USE: NEEDS CLARIFICATION (PER JJ) What considerations apply to water pressure, distance, and potential secondary filtration when using multiple units at separate locations?
Greater distances require larger pumps to maintain water pressure. Secondary filtration should be installed before the external pump, ensuring water is filtered before entering the home. There is no need for filtration between storage tanks.
