Hydropixel: How to ensure your Hydropixel stays safe in a freezing temps

Protecting Your Hydropixel in Freezing Conditions

Updated this week

When storing your Hydropixel in a garage during cold weather, it's crucial to take the right precautions to prevent damage from freezing temperatures. Here are the key steps to keep your device safe:

Primary Option: Indoor Storage The best solution is to wheel your Hydropixel inside during freezing nights or days. This completely eliminates the risk of cold-related damage.

If Indoor Storage Isn't Possible:

  1. Turn off the Hydropixel completely

  2. Empty both the upper and lower water tanks

  3. Replace the water tanks

  4. Do not run the machine until temperatures rise to viable production conditions

  5. Remove the five water filters:

    • 4 filters from the front filter compartment

    • 1 filter from the side service panel

Important: The filters' casings are made of porcelain and are at risk of breaking if left in place during a freeze. Store the filters safely in a protected area until temperatures rise above freezing and you're certain it's safe to replace them.

Additional Considerations:

  • Ensure your garage is well-insulated

  • Monitor temperature fluctuations

  • Avoid running the Hydropixel during extreme cold

By following these steps, you can protect your Hydropixel from potential freeze damage and extend the life of your device. Always prioritize bringing the machine indoors when possible, and if not, carefully drain and store it until warmer temperatures return.
