Why Can’t I See My Add-On on the Storefront?

Learn why your add-on might not appear on your storefront and follow our quick checklist to troubleshoot and fix common issues.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Multiple things come together to make a product available on the storefront.

This article is here to help ensure you have them all checked and are ready for success!

Why Isn't My Add-on Showing?

There are two kinds of add-ons in UpCart; Shipping Protection and Product Add-Ons. With both, the most common reason why your add-on may not be showing on the storefront is that the add-on product isn't available on the storefront.

Important Note: The Shipping Protection Add-on is created in UpCart and makes a product in your Shopify Admin Products. It has the same features as all other Shopify Products.

What to Review If Your Add-On Isn’t Showing:

Inventory

There are two options to Shopify product inventory that affect is an add-on is showing; the "Track quantity" option and the "Continue selling when out of Stock" option. To check a product's inventory, find it in your Shopify Admin Products Tab.

Track Quantity

If this option is checked, there needs to be inventory in the Available column. If there is no inventory here, your add-on will not show.

There are four different kinds of inventory states in Shopify, to learn more about them, check out the Shopify help doc on Inventory States here.

If the product only has one variant, you'll be able to check its inventory by scrolling down to the "Inventory" section.

If the product has more than one variant, each variant will have its own inventory level!

You can check each variant's inventory by scrolling down to the "Variants" section of the product settings and clicking on the variant you wish to check. On the next page the inventory settings will display the same way for that variant as for a single product.

Continue selling when out of Stock

If this option is checked, that means your product will not track inventory quantities and "never sell out." When checked, it also means that the Add-on will show through UpCart. You can learn more about using this setting by reviewing the Shopify help doc on Selling out of Stock Products here.

Active Status VS. Draft Status

Is the product's Status marked as Active or Draft? If the product is marked in Draft it will not show as an Add-on on the storefront.

You can find out by checking the product status in your Shopify Admin Products Tab where it will be displayed in the column next to the product name.

Alternatively, you can select the product and then check the top right of its settings and the badge that's next to the product's title! You can learn more about product status states by reviewing the Shopify help doc here.

Online Store Sales Channel

Is the add-on product a part of the "Online Store" sales channel?

You can check this by opening your Shopify Admin Products Tab, selecting a product, and then checking the "Publishing" section on the top right of the product's settings.

If you do not see the Online Store with a green dot next to it, your product is not active in the Online Store. To add it to the online store, you need to click on the three dots at the top of that section, and select "Manage sales channels" and then select "Online Store".

Product Type

There a few limitations to the kinds of products that we can use for add-ons. If your product is one of the following below, this could be why you are not able to see it.

Add-ons cannot be or include:

  • Subscription products

  • Multiple Variants

  • Bundle Products

🚧 Still Not Showing?

After all of the above steps have been checked, and you are still not seeing the Add-on on your storefront, clear your browser's cookies for your site! This will delete the cookie that UpCart and Shopify create to sync the Add-on to your UpCart.

If that does not help, please contact UpCart Support with the chat widget on the bottom right of the app, and we'll do our best to help you!
