Overview

Atrius organizes assets so that it's easy to filter tables and apps, and configure dashboards:

  • Asset category is the highest level classification for an asset.

  • Asset type is the level below asset category. Each asset type belongs to a single asset category.

  • Finally, there is the asset itself. Assets may optionally have an asset category and asset type.

Asset tag categories provide logical groupings for asset tags that are used for people and asset location services and analytics:

  • Asset tag category is the highest level classification for an asset tag.

  • Asset tag sub-category is the level below asset tag category. Each asset tag sub-category belongs to a single asset tag category.

  • Finally, there is the asset tag itself. Asset tags may optionally have an asset tag category and asset tag sub-category.

By appropriately categorizing your assets and asset tags, you can ensure that Atrius users get the most out of its asset management, location services, and analytics capabilities.

Scope

For partner administrators only, select a scope to determine whether this asset type will be listed under the selected organization or across all organizations of the selected partner.

Above: A new asset type called 'Chiller' is created exclusively for the organization 'Brick'. Since no asset photo has been provided, the default asset photo will be used for all assets of this type.

Add or edit custom attributes

Asset types impart their attributes, or "fields", to their associated assets. This allows you to expand your organization's asset data model by creating custom attributes for a given asset type. Asset attributes display on an asset's Profile.

To add or edit custom attributes for an asset type, select the dropdown menu on that row, then select 'Edit custom attributes'. In the modal window, you can perform the following actions:

  • Add or rearrange new custom attributes

  • Add or rearrange new sections

  • Rearrange standard attributes or sections

To add a new attribute to a section, select 'Add a field':

Field

Description

Field name

Enter an input field name.

Field type

Select an input field type based on the information you want to solicit: text input, text input (multi-line), numeric input, date input, dropdown list, or URL.

If 'Dropdown list' is selected, a field called Selections will appear. Enter each available dropdown selection, separated by a comma.

Unit label (optional)

Enter a label to be appended at the end of the input field.

Tooltip (optional)

Enter a description to be displayed in a tooltip alongside the input field label.

Validation

Specify whether the field is optional or required.

1114

To add a new section, select 'Add a section'. Enter a section title. Optionally, to display information immediately below the title, select 'Add a help banner'.

1116

Standard and custom attributes or sections that can be rearranged are denoted by an icon on the left side of the attribute name or section title. Custom attributes are editable; you can edit a custom attribute by selecting the "pencil" icon, or delete a custom attribute by selecting the "trash" icon.

1728

To rearrange an attribute or section, hover over the attribute field or section card, then drag and drop it to a new location. Attributes and sections may be "dropped" in the space above and below other attributes and sections; as you move them, these spaces will highlight to indicate that the attribute or section can be placed there.

Standard attributes that may not be rearranged are: Asset name, Asset category, Asset type, Asset photo, Description, Default dashboard, Status, Building, Space, Asset tag, Vendor asset ID.

❗️Warning

Once an attribute or section has been added, edited, or deleted, the change is automatically applied to all assets of the associated asset type. This action cannot be undone.
