Why do the images in my PDF appear and disappear?

Updated over 4 months ago

The issue you're experiencing could be related to settings on your PDF previewer or drivers on your computer. To troubleshoot, I recommend trying the following steps:

  1. Consider using a different PDF viewer. You can try downloading and using Adobe Acrobat, which is free to use. This might help if the problem is specific to your current PDF viewer.

  2. Ensure that you're not running other resource-intensive programs while viewing the PDF. Running multiple programs simultaneously can max out the available resources on your computer, potentially causing issues with PDF rendering.

If you're using the Chrome PDF viewer, the problem may be due to incompatibilities between the viewer and your video drivers. You can try turning off hardware acceleration for Chrome by following these steps:

  1. Open the Chrome menu by clicking the three dots in the top-right corner.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. In the left-hand menu, choose System.

  4. Toggle off the option that says Use hardware acceleration when available.

Please note that while turning off hardware acceleration can resolve rendering problems, it may impact the performance of web content in Chrome. It is recommended to turn it back on after completing your PDF-related tasks.

It's important to mention that if the issue is related to the PDF viewer, it doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with the file itself. You can verify the presence of the image in the digital previewer through KDP before publishing.
