Before you get started: Make sure you have a CSV file already uploaded to start the import process.

Overview

When exporting data from a previous platform or ticketing provider and importing it into Audience Republic, you may run into formatting issues. This means the data doesn’t meet our import tool’s requirements and needs to be adjusted before the import can be completed. Don’t worry—many of these issues can be fixed directly within the import tool. This article will walk you through identifying and resolving formatting errors, bulk-deleting problem entries, and making sure your data is successfully imported into your account.

Bulk deleting errors

  1. Click the error icon at the top so only the error rows are showing

  2. Select the top one so there is a blue ring around it

  3. Scroll to the number row and whilst pressing shift-click again

  4. This is now bulk-selected so when you press delete or backspace they will all be deleted

Removing invalid values in a column

  • Click on the invalid column that's highlighted in red

  • Select 'more actions'

  • Click 'delete all invalid values'

  • All of the invalid values in that specific column will be deleted:

Possible errors you may encounter

Invalid mobile numbers

When importing Mobile numbers, you must ensure all include a country code and are valid phone numbers, otherwise, the contacts with invalid mobile numbers won't be included in the import.

  • Export the errors as CSV

OR:

  • Import the clean CSV file

  • Then, import the tidied CSV file

Missing state and/or country

Date format

Date format is not your preferred format, it is the format of your file's data (International or US format)

Blank cell in the email address column

  • Ensure you have deleted all blank rows in the Email address column before importing, otherwise, the import will not work

Using the find and replace tool

If you need to make changes to a large number of cells, you can use the Find & Replace tool. This tool allows you to search for specific text (or a blank row) and replace it with something else.

Importing "Error"

  • Ensure your Custom Fields do not include fields that already exist in the import fields, such as State, Country, City, and Mobile number, as this will cause an error when importing

Example:

Error caused by this Custom Field, "state"
