How to Import and Use Custom Fields in Audience Manager

Before You Start

  • Ensure you have access to the Audience Manager and custom fields.

  • Create a custom field that is a single-select or plain text field (multi-select fields are not supported in the import process).

  • You can only import plain text, date, or number custom fields. Multi-select fields are not supported for import.

How to create Custom Fields

  • Click on your name icon

  • Select Custom Fields

  • Click Create Custom Field

  • Select a Profile Field or Form Field:

Form field

Ideal for collecting responses to questions like a survey (such as 'actor you want to see most')

The Form field can't be filtered

Profile field will be shown in Audience Manager, within the fan's profile. You can Filter or use this as a merge field. These can be filtered (such as 'favourite genre')

  • Click Next

  • Enter the Field Name, description, and Type

  • Click Save

Please note: Multi-select Profile fields are not supported in the Import process. To make the custom field selectable in the Import process, please change it to a single-select option.

Creating a 'read-only' field

  • Select a New Profile Field

  • Check the 'read only' box to prevent users from modifying the value

  • Click Save

Importing Custom Fields

  1. In the Audience Manager, click Import Contacts to upload your CSV file.

  2. Map the custom field to the appropriate column in your CSV.

  3. Complete the import process.

Filtering by Custom Fields

  • In the Audience Table, go to the Filter section and select your custom field.

  • You can also filter based on custom fields when sending emails or SMS.

Custom Fields in Customer Profiles

  • View and edit custom fields within a customer’s profile.

  • Custom fields appear in the Overview Tab of each profile.

Exporting Fans with Custom Fields

  1. Select the contacts you wish to export.

  2. Click the three dots in the right corner and choose Export.

  3. The export will include email, name, phone, location, and custom fields.
