FAQ: What is the difference between Expanded / Condensed View?

Updated over 3 years ago

When we’re creating a tech pack for a product, we have quite a few options for what we want to include. The first and second pages determine what goes within our tech pack and where, but the third page of the Creation Modal determines how information is presented, specifically for the BOM. We can choose between an Expanded or Condensed layout for our Bill of Materials

The Condensed Layout:

  • This has Component details listed first, then Product Colorways, and then associated Component Colorways displayed in nested rows.

  • There is no customization available for this layout

  • Certain information cannot be displayed

    • This condensed layout generally requires fewer pages.

The Expanded Layout

  • Product Colorways are managed in unique columns rather than nested rows.

  • More customizable with two extra pages in the creation process

    • On the fourth page you can choose to exclude or include specific Colorways, Images, quantity, and price information.

    • On the fifth page, you can choose how to display your component and BOM custom fields in the columns and cells.

      • This layout generally requires more pages.
