How to connect your domain to Baluu

Your domain is the address of your website that people type in the browser URL bar to visit your website, for example, www.newfloom.com.

You can connect a domain you've already purchased from another provider to your Baluu site.

Connecting a domain to your site

Connecting your domain to Baluu (also known as “domain mapping”) means that the domain management stays with your current domain host, but the URL of your domain points to your Baluu site.

This means that when people type in your web address (e.g. www.newfloom.com) they will be be brought to your Baluu site.

We allow domain connections via the pointing method. By connecting via the pointing method, your DNS records are hosted outside of Baluu.

To get started, follow the steps below.

Step 1 | Send us your domain

Before updating the DNS settings in your domain host account, you need to let us know what domain you want to use. Please email support@baluu.co.uk with your user name, and the domain name you wish to connect your account to.

Step 2 | Update the DNS records in your domain host account

To finish the connection, you must update your domain's DNS records in your domain host account (usually the company you bought your domain from).

To update your DNS records in your host account:

  1. Log into your domain's current host account:

    1. Open a new tab in your browser.

    2. Go to your domain host's site and log in.

  2. Find your domain settings page:

    1. Go to the domains page on your domain host's site.

    2. Find your domain and go to the settings panel.

  3. Find your DNS Records:

    1. In your domain settings, find the area where you manage or edit DNS server records.

  4. Replace your DNS records:

    1. On your domain host's site, replace your current records with the Baluu DNS records provided below.
      ​

      1. Type: A
        Name: @
        Value: 76.76.21.21

      2. Type: CNAME
        Name: www
        Value: cname.vercel-dns.com

Important:Be sure to update both your CNAME and A record with your domain host. If you don't, your site will appear unsecure and your visitors may see this warning message:

Step 3 | Wait for your domain to propagate

Your work is done. It may take up to 48 hours for your domain's new DNS records to propagate and your site to appear worldwide.
