Credits are used to generate and edit screens using AI. Every time you send a prompt that results in a successful generation or edit, credits are used. The number of credits depends on how much work the AI does for your request, so it can vary from one generation to another.
TL;DR
Each successful generation or edit uses credits. The exact amount varies depending on the work involved in your request. You have a total maximum amount of credits depending on your plan, and daily/monthly refills.
You can always view your credit balance and refills schedule on credits page.
What uses credits
Generating a new screen with AI
Editing screen with AI
If a generation fails or produces no result, no credit is deducted. You're only charged for successful outputs.
All manual editing features like text editing, changing design tokens, and rearranging things on the canvas don't count as credits. Those are free actions you can do anytime.
Daily vs. monthly credits
You have a total balance of credits. And there are two moments when they are refilled: daily and monthly.
Daily credits refresh every day at midnight your local time. Unused daily credits roll over and accumulate, up to the max credits cap for your plan.
Monthly credits are granted at the start of each billing cycle. Monthly credits do not roll over to the next month.
Your max credits cap limits how many total credits you can hold at once from combined daily rollovers + monthly credits.
Example (Free plan)
You start with 12 credits and get 3 daily credits, with a cap of 12.
Day 0: You start with 12 credits. You use 8, leaving 4.
Day 1: You get 3 daily credits, bringing you to 7. You don't use any.
Day 2: 3 more daily credits, now 10.
Day 3: 3 more daily would be 13, but the cap on the free plan is 12, so you max out at 12.
