Who this is for: Any staff member setting up a Yealink T54W phone. You'll need a Barti admin to complete the Barti side first — see How do I add a VoIP phone in Barti?
Before you start, you'll need:
A Yealink T54W phone connected to the internet (wired connection recommended for at least one phone)
The SIP username, SIP password, and SIP address for this phone from Organization Settings → Communication in Barti
Steps
Step 1 — Connect the phone to the internet
Connect your Yealink T54W to your network. A wired connection is recommended where possible. Additional phones can connect via Wi-Fi — when connected wirelessly, a Wi-Fi icon appears in the phone's status bar.
Wired: Plug an ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back of the phone, then connect the other end to your router or modem.
Wi-Fi: On the physical phone:
Press the Menu button.
Use the direction pad to navigate to Basic.
Scroll down to Wi-Fi (item 8 in the list) and select it.
Switch Wi-Fi to On.
Select your network from the list.
Enter your Wi-Fi password using multi-tap entry — press a number key repeatedly to cycle through its letters (for example, press 3 once for "d", twice for "e", three times for "f"). Press a different key or pause to confirm a character and move to the next.
Tip — Disable SIP ALG on your router: Many routers have a feature called SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateway) that is intended to help VoIP calls but commonly causes registration failures and call quality issues. We recommend disabling it before registering your phones.
To disable SIP ALG, log into your router's admin interface (usually found at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in your browser) and look for a SIP ALG, SIP Helper, or SIP Transformations setting under your firewall, NAT, or advanced networking options. The exact location varies by router brand and model — refer to your router's documentation if you're not sure where to find it.
Step 2 — Find the phone's IP address
Press OK on the phone to display its IP address in the IPv4 field.
Step 3 — Log into the phone's web interface
On a computer on the same network, open a web browser and enter the phone's IP address in the address bar (e.g.,
192.168.0.10).Your browser will show a privacy warning. Click Advanced, then Proceed to [IP address] (unsafe) to continue.
On the login page, enter the default credentials:
Username:
adminPassword:
admin
Click Login.
Step 4 — Register the phone with Barti
Navigate to Account → Register.
Set Line Active to On.
Enter a label in both the Label and Display Name fields (e.g., "Front Desk" or "Optical"). This is what appears on the phone's screen.
Copy and paste the SIP username from Barti into both the Register Name and Username fields.
Copy and paste the SIP password from Barti into the Password field.
Copy and paste the SIP address from Barti under the SIP Server 1 > Server Host field.
Click Confirm.
Important: Copy and paste all credentials directly from Barti — do not type them manually. Extra spaces or typos are the most common cause of registration failures.
Video Walkthrough
What you'll see when it works
The Registration Status on the Account → Register page shows Registered. The label you entered (e.g., "Front Desk") appears on the phone's screen. The status bar icon turns green.
Registration status icons:
🟢 Green — Registered
🟡 Yellow — Registering (in progress)
⚫ Gray — Registration failed
Troubleshooting
Registration failed — what should I check?
Confirm you copied and pasted (not manually typed) the SIP username, password, and SIP address from Barti.
Check all fields for accidental leading or trailing spaces.
If you have a firewall (such as McAfee or Norton), temporarily disable it and try registering again.
I'm registered but can't place or receive calls.
Temporarily disable any firewall software to test whether it's blocking audio.
Try switching your connection type — if you're on Wi-Fi, try a wired connection (or vice versa).
Confirm your headset receiver is plugged into the correct port on the phone.
Confirm that each registered phone in Barti has a unique password. Shared passwords can cause call issues even when registration succeeds.
What happens if no one is available to answer the phone?
If the phone hardware is on, it will continue to ring unanswered.
If the hardware is off and no one is logged into Barti to accept calls, callers will hear a message that no one is available.
