Who this is for: Any staff member using a Yealink T54W registered with Barti VoIP.
Before you start, you'll need:
All phones registered with Barti VoIP (see How do I add a VoIP phone in Barti? and How do I configure a Yealink T54W for Barti VoIP?)
The extension number assigned to each destination phone — find these in Organization Settings → Communications in Barti. *NOTE: Only Admins will have access to this page
Step 1 — (Optional) Save phones as contacts for easier transfer
Skip this step if you're comfortable dialing extension numbers manually. Otherwise, save each phone as a contact in your Yealink's local directory once, and you can transfer by name going forward. Repeat on each physical phone at your location.
Log into the phone's web interface by entering its IP address in your browser. (Press OK on the phone to find the IP address.)
Navigate to Directory → Local Directory.
Click New Contact.
Enter a name in the Name field (e.g., "Front Desk", "Back Office", "Optical").
Enter the phone's extension number in the Office Number field.
Click Save.
Repeat steps 3–6 for every other phone at your location.
Note: The local directory is stored on each individual phone. You'll need to add contacts on every device where you want transfer-by-name to work.
Step 2 — Transfer an active call
During an active call, press the Transfer button on the phone.
Dial the extension number of the destination phone, or select it from your local directory contacts.
Press Transfer to complete the transfer.
Wait for the call to connect before hanging up.
For a video walkthrough, see the call transfer video.
What you'll see when it works
The call is handed off to the destination phone and removed from your line.
Troubleshooting
I don't know the extension number for the phone I want to transfer to.
Extension numbers are set by your admin in Organization Settings → Communications in Barti. Ask your admin if you're not sure. To avoid needing to remember them in future, complete Step 1 above or set up speed dial buttons — see How do I set up speed dial for internal call transfers on a Yealink T54W?.
The transfer isn't connecting.
Confirm the extension number you dialed matches the transfer number assigned to the destination phone in Barti. If you set up a directory contact, also confirm the Office Number field matches. If extensions are correct and transfers still aren't working, see the troubleshooting section in How do I configure a Yealink T54W for Barti VoIP?.
