Who this is for: All Barti users who encounter an empty From field when sending a fax. Fixing the issue requires Kno2 admin access.
Why this happens
The From field in the fax form only shows fax numbers and Kno2 addresses that your account has permission to send from. If no Send Permissions have been assigned to your account — either directly or through a Global rule — the field appears empty and you won't be able to send.
Send Permissions are configured by your Kno2 admin, either when your account is created or at any time afterward.
If you're a non-admin user
You can't fix this yourself. Contact your Kno2 admin and ask them to assign you Send Permissions for the fax number or address you need. Share this article with them so they can follow the steps below.
If you're an admin: how to assign Send Permissions
There are two ways to assign Send Permissions — from the user's account, or from the fax number or Kno2 address itself. Either approach works; use whichever is more convenient.
Option A: Edit the user's account
Log in at kno2.prod.barti.com as an administrator.
Go to Settings → Users.
Click the pencil icon to the right of the user's email address.
The Global Send Permissions field shows any fax numbers and addresses already configured for all users. This field cannot be edited from the user screen.
Under Additional Send Permissions, add the fax number(s) or Kno2 address(es) the user should be able to send from.
Click Save Changes.
Option B: Edit the fax number or Kno2 address directly
Go to Settings → Fax Numbers (for fax numbers) or Settings → Kno2 Addresses (for Direct addresses).
Click the pencil icon to the right of the fax number or address.
Under Send Permissions, choose one of the following:
Global Rule (applies to all users) — grants all active users permission to send from this number or address. New users added in the future are included automatically.
Specify a list of users — grants only the users you select permission to send from this number or address.
Click Save Changes.
What you'll see when it works
The fax number or Kno2 address appears as an option in the From field the next time the user opens the fax form.
Troubleshooting
The user only has one fax number set up but the From field is still empty.
Confirm that the single fax number has Send Permissions configured. A fax number being set up in Kno2 doesn't automatically grant any user permission to send from it — permissions must be assigned explicitly.
Faxing works in Barti but not in the Kno2 dashboard.
Send Permissions in the Kno2 dashboard are configured separately from any permissions in Barti. Check Settings → Fax Numbers or Settings → Kno2 Addresses in Kno2 and confirm the user is included in the Send Permissions for the relevant number or address.
Only admins can configure Send Permissions.
Correct — only users with admin access to Kno2 settings can assign Send Permissions. If you're a non-admin, ask your admin to make the change.
