What do claim statuses mean in Barti?

Barti uses five claim statuses — Draft, Hold, Pending, Paid, and Rejected — to track where a claim is in the billing workflow. Hold means the claim is ready to submit; Pending means it has been sent to TriZetto.

Status

What it means

What to do

Draft

The claim has been created but is not yet ready to submit. It may need to be scrubbed or updated.

Review and correct the claim, then set it to Hold when ready.

Hold

The claim has been reviewed and is ready for submission to TriZetto.

If you're an RCM customer - No action needed — the RCM team will submit it. If you're not an RCM customer, you'll need to submit the claim when ready.

Pending

The claim has been submitted to TriZetto and is being processed. It typically takes up to 1 hour for TriZetto to receive claims.

Monitor for status updates. Pending claims cannot be deleted.

Paid

Payment has been received and posted.

No action needed.

Rejected

The claim was rejected by TriZetto or the payer. A rejection reason is visible inside the claim.

Review the rejection reason and correct or resubmit the claim.

Steps

Setting a claim to Hold

When your claim is ready to submit, set it to Hold:

  1. Open the claim in Barti.

  2. Click Submit Claim in the top right hand corner

Reading a rejection reason

If a claim is rejected, the reason appears directly inside the claim in Barti:

  1. Go to Insurance → Claims.

  2. Open the rejected claim.

  3. Review the rejection reason shown in the claim detail.

For common rejection reasons and how to resolve them, see Why was my claim rejected?.

What you'll see when it works

After setting a claim to Hold, it will appear in the submission queue. Once submitted, the status changes to Pending. When TriZetto processes the claim and payment is received and posted, the status updates to Paid.

Troubleshooting

Can I delete a claim?

Only claims in Draft or Hold status can be deleted. Claims in Pending, Paid, or Rejected status cannot be deleted. Rejected claims that are corrected and paid will eventually update to Paid status automatically.

Can I move a claim from Pending back to Hold?

No. Once a claim has been submitted and is in Pending status, it cannot be reversed to Hold.

My claim says "Error" instead of one of the statuses above.

An Error status typically means there is an issue with your TriZetto SFTP connection. Check that your SFTP password is correct in both TriZetto and Barti. See How do I reset my TriZetto SFTP password? for steps.

A rejected claim updated to Paid, but it still appears in the rejected view.

Rejected claims that become paid do eventually update once the payment is processed. If a claim appears stuck, contact rcm@barti.com.
