What do I need to set up before submitting my first claim in Barti?

Before submitting your first claim, you'll need your Group NPI, provider NPI and signature, TriZetto credentials, and correct payer IDs all configured in Barti. Missing any of these will cause claims to reject or fail to transmit.

Prerequisites checklist

Prerequisite

Where to set it up

Group NPI added to practice location

Settings → Organization Settings → Locations → edit location → Group NPI field

Provider individual NPI and license number

Provider's account → Account Settings → NPI and License fields

Provider signature on file

Provider's account → Account Settings → Signature section (draw with mouse or touchscreen)

TriZetto Site ID and SFTP password entered (medical claims only)

Insurance → Claims → three-dot menu (top right) → enter Site ID and SFTP password

EDI enrollment completed with each payer (medical claims only)

Via TriZetto. Claims will reject with "payer enrollment pending" until complete. See How do I set up TriZetto before submitting my first claim?

Correct payer ID on patient insurance profile

Check the back of the patient's insurance card. Update in patient profile → Insurance.

Patient insurance added to profile

Patient profile → Insurance section

Why each item matters

Provider signature — If missing, the claim will not include a signature when printed or submitted. Providers should add their signature during initial Barti setup.

Group NPI — Required for the Billing Provider field on the claim. Without it, the field won't auto-populate and claims may be rejected.

EDI enrollment — ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) enrollment must be completed per provider, per location, and per payer before payments can auto-post into Barti. EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) enrollment is required to receive direct deposit payments instead of paper checks.

Payer ID — The payer ID is the claim's mailing address. A wrong payer ID sends the claim to the wrong payer or triggers an immediate rejection.

Troubleshooting

I entered my TriZetto credentials but claims are showing Error status.

The most likely cause is an expired SFTP password. TriZetto SFTP passwords expire approximately every 90 days. Reset your password in TriZetto, then update it in Barti under Insurance → Claims → three-dot menu. See How do I reset my TriZetto SFTP password?

Claims are rejecting with "payer enrollment pending."

EDI enrollment with that payer hasn't been completed yet. Log into TriZetto, go to the Open Tasks tab, and complete the enrollment steps for that payer. Do not submit claims for a payer until ERA enrollment is complete.
