Overview
A heading in Content Designer is a textual element used to introduce or organize sections of content within a chapter or activity. Headings help structure the content and provide learners with clear visual cues that guide them through the course material.
To add or edit a heading, open the content editor inside a Content Designer activity.

Heading text
Enter the main text for the heading.
Setting the heading text is mandatory when creating a heading.Heading URL
Add a URL if you want the heading to act as a clickable link. You can also click Choose a link… to open Moodle’s file picker and select a file or page.
Heading
Set the heading level to define its prominence:
Main heading (h2) – A larger, prominent heading typically used for main sections or titles.
Sub heading (h3) – A slightly smaller heading, used for subsections or supporting information within a main section.
Target
If a heading URL is provided, choose how the link should open:
Same window – Opens the link in the current browser tab, replacing the current page.
New Window – Opens the link in a new browser tab, keeping the current page open.
Horizontal alignment
Choose the horizontal position for the text within the element.
Left
Center
Right
Vertical alignment
Choose the vertical position for the text within the element.
Top
Middle
Bottom
General element settings
Headings share additional settings with other Content Designer elements:
General settings – adjust padding, spacing, and other layout details.
Background – choose background color or image.
Entrance animation – animate the element as it appears on screen.
Scrolling effects – apply effects on scroll.
Responsive settings – control visibility and layout on different screen sizes.
