Overview

A poll in Content Designer is an interactive element where learners can answer a question or give feedback by selecting one or more options. It helps you engage learners, collect insights, and make your course feel more participatory.

To add or edit a poll, open the content editor inside a Content Designer activity.

Poll element settings

  • Question

Define the question or topic of the poll. This is shown above the answer options.
    This field is mandatory.

  • Option (1, 2, 3, etc.)

Enter the possible answers in separate fields.

    • Empty fields are ignored and are removed when you update the element.

    • To add more options, click Add 3 fields to form, which adds three additional fields.

  • Number of selectable options

Decide how many options a student can select:

    • 0 – Students can select all available options.

    • 1 or higher – Students can select only up to the specified number.

  • Results

Choose how and when students see the poll results:

    • Hidden – Students never see the aggregated results.

    • Displayed always – Results are visible before and after submission.

    • Displayed after their own rating – Results become visible only after the student submits a response.

The results are shown in a pie chart, with each option represented by a different colour. When you hover over an option, additional information is displayed.

  • Update rating

Allow or prevent students from changing their vote:

    • Disabled – Students cannot change their selection after submitting.

    • Enabled – Students can edit their choice any time before the poll closes.

  • After submission message

Set a custom message that is shown after a student submits their response.

  • Mandatory

Decide if completing the poll is required to unlock the next content:

    • Yes – Learners must answer the poll to proceed.

    • No – Learners can skip the poll and still access the next content.

Responses

When you open the content editor and click the calendar icon of a poll, you’ll see an overview of all submitted responses.

The table shows all poll options, the number of responses for each option, and which users voted for which options.

You can select responses in three ways:

  • A poll option – selects all responses in that column.

  • A single response – selects only that specific response.

  • Select all – selects all responses.

Once at least one response is selected, you can choose one of the following actions:

  • Delete the selected responses.

  • Choose another option for all users with a selected response.

Manually changing poll responses can result in more selections than the configured limit.
