Video Time in Content Designer

Integrate Video Time activities into Content Designer activities for interactive, video-based learning experiences. (Pro only)

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

The Video Time element in Content Designer allows instructional designers to include video-based activities directly in the course module structure. This provides flexibility in how video content is presented and how learners interact with it.

To add or edit a Video Time element, open the content editor inside a Content Designer activity.

Note: To use Video Time with Content Designer, you must have the Video Time plugin installed on your Moodle site.

Video Time element settings

  • Course

Select the course that contains the Video Time activity you want to use.

    • Only courses where a Video Time activity has been added will appear in this list.

    • If a user is not enrolled in the selected course, they’ll see a message informing them to contact their teacher for access. If self-enrolment is enabled, an Enrol me button will appear.

  • Video Time modules

After selecting a course, choose the specific Video Time activity from that course. This links the chosen video-based activity into your Content Designer module.

Note: Video Time elements cannot be graded in Content Designer, even if the original Video Time has a grade configured.

  • Mandatory

Decide whether students must complete the Video Time activity before proceeding:

    • Yes – The student must watch the entire video to access the next element.

    • No – The next element is available without completing the video.

Restrictions when a Video Time element is set to mandatory

  • If a student does not have access to the linked Video Time activity and the element is marked as mandatory, the student won’t be able to proceed to the next element.

  • The following Video Time completion conditions can be met in Content Designer (with automatic refresh):

    • View the activity

    • Completion based on view time

    • Completion based on watch percentage

    • Completion when the video finishes

  • The following Video Time completion conditions can’t be met in Content Designer and block progress to the next element.

    • Student must manually mark the activity as done

    • Receive a grade
