Activity setup in Timetable

Configure start dates, due dates, and priorities for each activity in a course (Pro only)

Updated this week

About

Timetable lets you define how each activity fits into the course workflow. By configuring start dates, due dates, priority, and duration, you guide students through the expected timeline. These settings also generate individual calendar entries for each user. You can find them in a course under the secondary navigation menu > Timetable > Activity setup.

Available settings

For each activity in the course you can configure the following options.

  • Start date

    • None – No start date is defined.

    • Absolute – Opens a field to enter a fixed date.

    • Relative – Opens fields to define a date based on a reference point.

  • Duration

Define recommended time to complete the activity in weeks, days, hours, or minutes.

  • Due date

This option is only available for activities that have a completion date configured.

    • None – No start date is defined.

    • Absolute – Opens a field to enter a fixed date.

    • Relative – Opens fields to define a date based on a reference point.

The due date influences the prediction factors On track and Punctuality.

  • Priority

Set the activity priority to normal, high, or low. This influences the prediction factor Priority.

  • Settings

The three dot menu at the end of each row lets you view or edit the activity.

  • Save and generate calendar entries

Click this button to save all configurations and generate calendar entries based on them.

  • Cancel

Reverts all changes since the last time settings were saved.

How to add a relative date

When you select a relative start or due date, two additional settings appear.

  • Reference date

Choose the event the date should relate to.

    • Enrolment start

    • Course start

    • User profile field – Uses the reference date field configure in the general global settings.

    • Enrolment end

    • Course end

    • Course due

  • Time shift

Add a time shift before or after the selected reference date. You can define the shift in minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months.

The example reference date set in the upper right corner is used to calculate preview examples. It does not affect the actual configuration of relative start or due dates.

Note: A time shift before a reference date only works if the reference date is known in advance.

Filter displayed activities

Activities are displayed by course sections to provide a clear overview. By default all activities in the course are displayed, the filter helps you show only specific items.

You can filter activities by type, section, or setup status. Each dropdown only shows options that apply to the current course.
