How to restrict and manage the data included in a Dash block using conditions

About

Conditions define the behind-the-scenes rules for what data is retrieved from Moodle. They allow you to restrict the content to specific subsets, such as showing only courses from a certain category or users in a specific cohort.

You can find these settings when opening the preferences of a Dash block.

Note: Unlike Filters, Conditions are set by the administrator and cannot be modified by the end-user.

Available conditions

The list of available conditions depends on the data source the Dash block is relying on. Each data source comes with its own unique conditions. Widgets can also include conditions, though these are typically very limited.

How to enable conditions

Click on a condition to enable it. Many conditions work instantly upon selection, while others require additional input.

Some conditions open a selection field when enabled. For example, if you enable the cohorts condition, a field will appear for you to select the specific cohort the data should be limited to.

Note: Only existing items (like cohorts or roles) are displayed in these fields. If no items are available in your Moodle site, no option will be displayed for selection.
