About
Dash provides a selection of layouts for static content that complement its dynamic widgets and data sources. These blocks allow you to build custom landing pages, catalogs, or course previews by combining text, media, and images. Unlike data-driven blocks, visual content blocks are used for manual content entry and can be styled per section to create a professional, website-like experience.
You can choose a specific layout when you add a Dash block.
Available content layouts
Dash offers five layout structures to organize your content:
Full layout – A single, full-width content section.
Double equal – Two columns of equal width (50/50).
Double (1/3, 2/3) – Two columns where the right section is twice as wide as the left.
Double (2/3, 1/3) – Two columns where the left section is twice as wide as the right.
Triple equal – Three columns of equal width.
How to add content
After selecting a layout, you can add content to each section individually. Click on any section of the layout to open the configuration modal, which includes the following options:
Content – Use the standard Moodle editor to add text, links, images, or videos.
Background color – Set a specific background color for that layout section.
Text color – Define the color of the text within the section.
Background image – Upload an image to serve as the background for the specific section.
Tip: When using the Designer course format with the "one section per page" layout, visual content blocks can be tailored and limited to specific course sections. This allows educators to incorporate multi-column content as introductory headers within their course sections.
