When you select the Designer format in a course, additional options become available in the course format settings. These options define how sections and activities are displayed in the course.
Available settings
Format
Choose "Designer format" to activate the designated format of Designer. This turns every section in the course into a Designer section and unlocks additional settings.
Course type
Defines the overall layout of the course and how its sections are displayed:
Normal – Stays very close to the standard custom sections format.
Kanban Board – Displays sections and activities in a board-like layout inspired by project management. Students can quickly see progress across activities or topics.
Collapsible sections – Allows students to expand or collapse sections. Useful for courses with many sections or modules.
Flow – The "Flow" course type presents sections and activities in a flow-like format, enabling learners to scroll horizontally for navigation. It offers smooth transitions between sections and activities, enhancing the ease of progression through the course.
If activities are placed only in the general section, they are displayed without a visible section.
Display activities in popups
Decide if activities should open in modal windows and if navigation links to previous and next activities should be displayed.
Requires the Popup format to be installed.Course layout
Show all sections on one page – Sections and activities are displayed on a single page.
Show one section per page – Only section headers are shown with icons for activities. Activities are displayed when the section is viewed.
Not available for Kanban Board.
Hidden sections
Hidden section can be displayed to students as "not available", or kept completely hidden.

Flow animation
Enable or disable animation when using the Flow course type.
Flow size
Define the width and height of sections and activities when using the Flow course type:
Small – 320 pixels
Medium – 360 pixels
Large – 400 pixels
Accordion
When enabled, sections collapse automatically if another section is expanded.

With course layout one section per page, display activities grouped by type or purpose of each section. Only available for course type "Normal".
