You've received your work authorization - it's time to celebrate! Your many months (or years) of waiting are coming to an end!

However, there are still several more steps to go through before you complete your EB3 journey.

Many of our clients get overly excited when they receive work authorization, and they begin to make moving plans right away. It is very important that you not complete these steps out of order. Doing so will likely cause you frustration.

To avoid unnecessary headaches on the last leg of your journey, here is a typical order of events for our clients:

AOS Clients

For those adjusting their status while in the US:

1) Work Authorization (EAD or GC, whichever comes first)
---> contact BDV Client Services to notify them you are ready to work!

2) Get SS Card (if you didn't have one before)

3) Receive assigned worksite if variable

4) Secure housing

5) Move

6) Start work

Numbers 3 and 4 (getting worksite and housing) should be done around 8 weeks before starting work.

Consular Clients

For those applying for a visa while in their home country:

1) Work Authorization (visa approval and receipt of visa in passport)
---> contact BDV Client Services to notify them you are ready to work!

2) Move to US (in temporary housing)

3) Get SS card

4) Receive assigned worksite if variable

5) Secure permanent housing

6) Move

7) Start work

Numbers 4 and 5 (getting worksite and housing) should be done around 8 weeks before starting work.

For Everyone

If needed, other activities may be essential for you, based on your needs. The order does not usually matter but do what's best for you:
