Early Check-In and Late Checkout: Pre-Reservation via the Guest Portal

How guests can pre-reserve early check-in and late checkout add-ons, when offers are sent, and how monthly bookings should be configured.

How early check-in and late checkout pre-reservation works

Guests can request early check-in (ECI) or late checkout (LCO) in advance through their guest portal. Here's the flow:

  1. If a guest asks about ECI or LCO more than 48 hours before their arrival or departure, direct them to log into their guest portal and click Add-ons to pre-reserve their preferred time.

  2. Besty will not confirm or charge for the request immediately. Instead, it will evaluate availability 48 hours before the arrival/departure date.

  3. If the dates are not back-to-back (no conflicting reservation), Besty automatically confirms the request and charges the guest at that 48-hour mark.

  4. If it is a back-to-back, the request is not fulfilled and the guest is notified.

Automated offer messages

Besty sends an automated upsell message to guests 48 hours before their arrival (for ECI) and 48 hours before their departure (for LCO) — but only to guests who have not already pre-reserved. These messages are not sent for back-to-back reservations or monthly bookings (by default).

Monthly bookings: blocking the last day

For monthly reservations during high season, the last day of the stay should be blocked in your calendar so it appears back-to-back. This prevents Besty from sending a late checkout upsell offer at the end of a monthly stay, which would be inappropriate for long-term guests.

Also note in your operations tool (e.g., Breezeway) that the block is not a real back-to-back, so housekeeping knows the correct turnover schedule.

Completing upsells after the guest purchases

Once a guest purchases an ECI or LCO through the portal, mark it as complete in the Besty ROI dashboard under the To Do tab. For properties managed through Turno or a similar tool, update the cleaning schedule to reflect the adjusted arrival or departure time.
