Note: BetterYou now only supports Daily Screentime Report screenshots for this feature to better support new goal logging and reporting we've rolled out!

Your data is fully secured & will never be shared

Screenshot are never uploaded to our servers. We use Apple's secure iOS's image processing tools to detect time on apps and to ensure we're only looking at screenshots. All of your data is encrypted and stored to the highest of standards, and we never share individual data.

BetterYou monitors your progress for specific goals by adding up the time you spend on apps that help you achieve them.

For the BetterYou app to log this on an iOS device, we will need you to take screenshots of your Daily Screen Time summary that includes the apps that you want credit for.

  1. To start, you will need to give permission to the app to access your photos (the app will prompt you to do so upon setting an app-based goal). You can also grant permissions from your profile page in the app.

  2. Then take a screenshot of your Screen Time that include the apps you used for your goals. BetterYou works in the background to see the time spent on them and will only search your photos looking for a Screen Time picture. Your progress will update automatically (This may take a few minutes). It's best to take screenshots once a day or regularly throughout the week to update your progress in the app.

To correctly capture a screenshot of the previous day please follow these steps:

(you can watch a short tutorial video here!)

    1. Open your phone Settings

    2. Scroll down and click on Screen Time

    3. Right below the dashboard tap on "See All Activity"

    4. You can take screenshots of today's Screen Time using the touch the bar-chart.

    5. Take a screenshot of the dashboard and save it your photos.

    6. Click Show More under "Most Used", and take screenshots of your screen time list; scroll and take screenshots of the Most Used list until you've captured the apps that best support your BetterYou goals!

    7. The app will work in the background to capture the data in the screenshot and update any relevant goals you've set.

    8. If you have any privacy concerns, please read our iOS App Permissions article.

  3. You should receive a notification that BetterYou has detected a screenshot.

To troubleshoot:

  1. Make sure you are using the most current version of the app. You can do this by going to your navigation bar and tapping the Account tab. When you scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen, you will see if your app is up to date or not. Alternatively, you can check the app store for updates or set your device to auto-update apps.

  2. Open the app, navigate to Account in the navigation bar, and then tap into permissions to ensure the app has access to your photos.

    1. If access is not allowed, please enable it before proceeding to the next step...

  3. Tap Dashboard and pull down from the top of the screen to refresh

  4. After the app updates with your screen time/app usage data, appropriate goals and challenges will be updated in your Dashboard.
