Custom goals allow you to tailor your wellness journey to fit your specific needs and aspirations. By setting custom goals, you can focus on areas that are most important to you, log your progress, and stay motivated.

Logging Methods

When creating a custom goal you can choose from different logging methods to monitor your progress. Here’s an explanation of the different goal logging options available:


Yes/No - Days per week: This method allows you to easily mark tasks as complete. Start by setting the number of days you plan to work on this goal and then tap 'Save Changes'. In the example provided, to log progress on a specific day, simply tap on that day, and a teal check mark will appear. To remove a progress entry, tap the teal check mark again.

Yes/No - Days per week + Times per day: Similar to the method before, to log progress for each day, first select the number of days you plan to work towards your goal. Then, check the box labeled "Multiple times per day" to set the frequency of your progress entries. In the example provided, if you choose to work on your goal every day of the week (7 days) and log progress 8 times a day, you can add entries throughout the day. Once you reach your daily goal, a teal check mark will appear. To remove a progress entry, simply tap the minus button.

Time-Based: This method logs the time you spend on a task throughout the week and supports both automatic and manual logging. Auto-logging is available for existing BetterYou goals through screen time screenshots, but does not apply to custom goals. For manual logging, go to the details screen of your goal to add or subtract progress time.

Location Auto-Logging: This method logs your visits throughout the week and supports both automatic and manual logging. To use it, first add a location to your goal. Whenever you spend more than 15 minutes at this location, the app will automatically record your visit and update your progress. If you visit an unregistered location, you can manually add that location and log your visit in the app.


How to Create a Custom Goal

A custom goal is designed to align specifically with an individual's unique needs and priorities, enhancing relevance, motivation, and effectiveness. Follow the steps below to efficiently set up a customized goal.

  1. Select the edit pen to customize your custom goal icon.

  2. Choose a background color and then an icon to represent your custom goal. Once you’re done selecting your icon color and image, tap on “Save Changes”.

  3. Make sure you set a goal name and action. After that, choose a logging method.

  4. Select from three different logging methods: Yes/No logging, Time-based logging, or Location Auto-logging. Whichever you choose, make sure you select “Save Changes” when you’re done.

  5. Once you have completed all the prompts to create a custom goal, tap on the button "Create Goal” to complete the goal creation process.

  6. Your new goal will populate on your goals dashboard!
