We’re excited to introduce the Buddy Search feature in BetterYou, making it easier than ever to connect with your cohort and build a strong network. With the added flexibility of public and private profiles, you can now choose who gets to see your profile details. Here's a breakdown of how it works:
🕵️ Buddy Search: Find & Connect with Buddies
With Buddy Search, you can quickly find and connect with others in your cohort by searching through suggested buddies, all based on your mutual connections.
How to Use Buddy Search:
Navigate to the Community Tab – Tap the community icon in the navigation bar.
Access Buddy Search – Tap on the "Buddy Search" field and start typing the name of the buddy you want to connect with, or browse through the suggested buddies.
Suggested Buddies – BetterYou suggests buddies based on your mutual buddies. These suggestions make it easier to find people you may know or want to connect with.
🔒 Public vs. Private Profiles
When browsing through the Buddy Search results, you’ll notice that some buddies have public profiles, while others have private profiles. This allows you to decide how much information you want to share with others.
Private Profile:
If a buddy has a private profile, you’ll only see their name and mutual connections. To view more details, you will need to send them a buddy request.
Once the buddy approves your request, you’ll gain access to their full profile, including their bio and other details.
Tip: You can also set your own profile to private if you prefer to share details only with approved buddies.
Public Profile:
If a buddy has a public profile, you’ll be able to view their name, bio, profile picture, and mutual buddies immediately without needing to send a request first.
You can still choose to add them as a buddy directly or pass on the connection if it’s not a fit.
Note: You can change your profile's privacy settings anytime in the profile section.
👥 How to Connect with a Buddy:
View Profile – Tap on a buddy’s profile to learn more about them. If their profile is public, you can view their bio and other details. If it's private, you'll only see limited information.
Add Buddy – Tap the Add Buddy button to send them a request. If you change your mind, you can tap Not Interested.
Mutual Buddies – Check how many buddies you have in common before adding someone to your network.
