As with any credit card processor, each credit card transaction carries processing fees. These fees are what you (the merchant) pay your credit card processor (our payment partner) for use of their product and services. With BirdEase Payments, the credit card processing fee is 3.9% of the total transaction. We've worked with our payment partner to establish a flat rate that includes any fees incurred by interchange, as well as additional dues and assessments or other fees that come from processing cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We never charge any monthly fees, PCI-compliance fees, cancellation fees, or POS software fees. It’s all included in our rate!
BirdEase Payments lets you pass the 3.9% processing fees to your registrants, allowing you to receive the full amount charged for your registration item(s.) If a registrant chooses to cover fees on a $100 purchase, they will be charged a total of $104.06. The reason it is not $103.90 is that the fee is taken off of the total amount being charged. If the total charged to the registrant were $103.90, the amount you would receive would be $99.85 (103.90 x .039) rather than the full $100.
If you choose not to pass the fees off, the fees amount will be deducted from the transaction amount before being deposited to your bank account.
