How long does the application process take?

Our payment partner's review process typically takes 2-4 business days to complete as long as all the information provided on the application is correct. If more information is requested, it will take an additional 2-4 business days once the additional information is received.

Why is SSN, date of birth, and personal address required?

Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT ACT requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account or changes an existing account. This federal requirement applies to all new customers and current customers. This information is used to assist the United States government in the fight against the funding of terrorism and money-laundering activities.

What this means to you: when you open a BirdEase Payments account, our payment partner requires the name, physical address, SSN , date of birth, and other information that will allow our partners to comply with the law.

This information is only used for risk analysis. It WILL NOT be used for any tax purposes.

Why is there a 3.9% fee for BirdEase Payments?

Credit card fees exist to cover the various costs and risks associated with processing transactions. When a purchase is made, the merchant pays a processing fee that includes interchange fees (paid to the cardholder's bank for handling and approving the transaction), assessment fees (paid to card networks like Visa or Mastercard for maintaining the infrastructure), and processor markup fees (charged by the payment processor for facilitating the transaction).

Why can't I simply link my bank account to accept payments?

A BirdEase Payments account acts as a bridge between your registrants and your bank, allowing credit card payments to be processed. It requires a business entity (like an organization or sole proprietorship) and links to a bank account for payouts.

If BirdEase were to collect payments on your behalf, they become the merchant of record and take on the risk for chargebacks, disputes, and fraud.

Why is additional information being requested?

Once in a while our payment partner cannot verify either the business or the individual associated with the application. This information is to comply with Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT ACT.

How long does it take to link my bank account?

The review process to verify your bank account information and ownership can take 3-6 business days to complete. If our payment partner can't link your bank account for any reason, you'll receive a notification from BirdEase for Bank Account Info Requested.

Linking your bank account requires a voided check, bank statement, or bank letter under the name of the organization on your application that shows the account name, full account number, and routing number. If any of this information is missing, our payment partner cannot link your bank. If you've applied as a Sole Proprietor/Individual, you may link a personal bank account. All other entity types must link a bank account associated with your organization.

Can my application review be expedited?

Our payment partner needs time to review and verify all of the information on your application. The review timeline is out of our control, so ensuring that all of the information on your application is correct is the fastest way to get your account up and running. We recommend completing the application process as soon as possible to ensure you'll be ready to take payments when you're ready to publish your event.
