How to message customers through Boatyard.

Updated over 2 months ago

The quickest and easiest way to contact the customer is by messaging them directly through your dashboard.

Send a Message From The Messaging Panel

To message a customer from anywhere in Boatyard, you can simply open the side messaging panel by clicking on the message icon in the top right corner.

This opens the messaging panel, where you can see your recent chats, and start to message your customer.

A message can be translated to English from other languages by hovering over the message and double clicking on the translate icon.

Send a Message From an Order

Within the Order Detail screen you can click Message Customer in the upper right-hand corner.

This opens the messaging window for that specific customer. Just type your message and press Enter to send.

The customer will receive your message in two ways:

  • Inside their customer portal

  • As an email with a link that opens the full conversation

Even if they don’t log into the portal, they can reply directly through the email link, keeping the conversation seamless either way.

How do you know if your customer is receiving messages?

There are checkmarks within your message that are used to identify the status of the messages you are sending:

One light gray checkmark next to the message means it was sent.

Two light gray checkmarks indicate the message was delivered successfully.

Two blue checkmarks indicates that the message was seen.

Sending Quick Replies

To make it even faster to contact your customer, you can use the 'Quick Replies' feature.

Simply click on the quick reply icon and then select the quick reply template you would like to use.

Quick Replies are an excellent choice for streamlining common communications you need to make with your customers. Unlike Status Updates, there's no character limit for quick replies and you can easily send them over to your customer as needed from within the messaging panel.

Creating Quick Reply Templates

First, in the message side panel, click on the Quick Reply icon at the bottom of a message thread.

Next, click on the "New" button to create a new template.

Then you will pick a title for your quick reply. This is for internal purposes and not shown to the customer. And then you can enter the text of the quick reply.

When you have entered your text you can then click the "Save" button and now your quick reply is ready to use!
