At Book Creator, we're dedicated to making content accessible to all learners. Our audio transcription feature allows you to effortlessly add transcripts to your audio hotspots, in multiple languages, whether you've uploaded audio or recorded directly onto the page. This capability significantly enhances accessibility, ensuring your books can be enjoyed and understood by a wider audience.

Step 1. Select the audio hotspot

Begin by clicking or tapping on the audio hotspot on your page. A blue box will appear around it, indicating it's selected. Next, click the Inspector (i) button located in the toolbar, or simply use right-click, to select Add transcript.

Step 2. Generate or manually add the audio transcript

Within the right-click or inspector (i) menus, you'll see the Add transcript option. Click this, then choose Generate automatically to have Book Creator intelligently create the captions for you. Remember to select the language of your audio first! Alternatively, you also have the option to Enter manually to type the transcript yourself.

Step 3. Refine the transcript for accuracy

Once the transcript is ready, you'll receive a notification. You can then easily edit the generated text. Utilize the audio playback feature to listen along as you make any necessary corrections to ensure perfect accuracy. For added convenience, you can even click the microphone icon to dictate text if that's your preferred method.

4. View the transcript in edit mode and read mode

You'll notice that your audio hotspot now features a small text bubble icon in its corner.

In Edit Mode, simply click on the text bubble icon to display the transcript. An Edit button will appear that when selected, will re-open the transcript editor modal to adjust any text.

In Read Mode, simply click on this icon to display the transcript. The text will appear as a convenient popover, allowing for easy reading and follow-along.

It also shows the user selecting the Play triangle icon in the upper right corner to go to Read Mode and selecting the audio transcript icon there will offer a pop-out view of the text.

Translate your audio

You can extend the power of your audio recordings even further by translating them! Book Creator can generate new audio files in over 100 languages, spoken by realistic voices. Simply select your audio hotspot, choose to translate, generate the original transcript if needed, then select your desired language and voice. A new audio icon will appear, and you can even color-code these translated hotspots to help students and families easily identify different languages.

By leveraging this powerful feature, you can ensure that all students, regardless of their learning needs or preferences, can fully engage with the audio content in your Book Creator projects.
