Penalties on Classes – How to Enable and Disable Them

In this article, you will learn how penalties work in the system, where they are configured, and how to enable or disable them on both existing and new classes. Important

Written by Ronny Christensen

Penalties are controlled on two levels:

  • System settings → Define which actions trigger penalties and the amounts

  • Individual classes → Determine whether penalties are active on a specific class

Penalties cannot be disabled directly on a membership.

System settings (global setup)

This is where the general penalty rules for the system are configured.

You can define:

  • Late check-in

  • No-show

  • Late cancellation

  • Amount for each penalty type

These rules apply system-wide unless they are disabled on a specific class.

Enable or disable penalties on a class

You can change the penalty setting on both existing and upcoming classes directly in the calendar.

How to do it:

  1. Go to Calendar

  2. Find the desired class

  3. Click the pencil icon (edit)

  4. Find the setting “Enable penalties”

  5. Turn it on or off as needed

  6. Click Save

When you create a new schedule or edit an existing one, you can also disable penalties from the start by turning off “Enable penalties”.

To change an existing schedule, find it in the list, click the three dots (⋮), and select Edit schedule. Here you can enable or disable “Enable penalties” so it applies to all classes under that schedule.

Result

When “Enable penalties” is turned off on a class:

  • No penalties will be charged for that class

  • Rules for late check-in, no-show, and late cancellation do not apply

  • Other classes are not affected

When to use this

Use this feature if:

  • A class is a free trial session

  • An event or workshop should not have penalties

  • You want to avoid penalties for specific class types
