Put a Membership on Hold

Written by Ronny Christensen

If a member needs to temporarily pause their membership, you can place the membership on hold.

How to put a membership on hold

  1. Open the member's profile.

  2. Go to the Memberships tab.

  3. Find the membership you want to put on hold.

  4. Click the three dots (⋮) next to the membership.

  5. Select Put Membership on Hold.

Complete the form

When the dialog opens, enter the following information:

  • On Hold Begins – The date the membership should be placed on hold.

  • On Hold Until – The date the membership should automatically become active again.

  • On Hold Fee (optional) – Enter a fee if the member should be charged while the membership is on hold.

  • Send confirmation email (optional) – Enable this option to send the member a confirmation email.

Click Put on Hold to save the changes.

How membership holds work

  • If the membership is not placed on hold on a renewal date, the system will charge the full membership amount at the next renewal.

  • If the membership is placed on hold during a billing period, the system automatically calculates a prorated charge at the next renewal. This means the member is only charged for the portion of the billing period during which the membership is active.

  • Any unused paid membership days are automatically carried forward, so the member does not lose any remaining time.

  • The membership is automatically reactivated on the date specified in On Hold Until.
