When building an email in a visual editor

Written by Ronny Christensen

When building an email in a visual editor (like the one in your screenshot), you build top-to-bottom by stacking blocks:

  1. The Baseplate (Body): Sets the background color for the entire email.

  2. The Structure Blocks (Blocks / Columns): Determines the layout (e.g., 1 full-width row or 2 side-by-side columns).

  3. The Content (Content): What you place inside the structure (headings, text, buttons, images).

🛠️ Step-by-Step Guide (In English)

Step 1: Get Familiar with the Screen

  • Left Side (The Canvas): This is your email "live". You can see how it looks and click directly on text to edit it.

  • Right Side (The Toolbox): This is where you grab elements, pick layouts, and adjust colors, fonts, or spacing.

Step 2: Lay the Foundation (Blocks / Columns)

Before writing text or adding images, define your layout:

  1. Click the Blocks or Columns tab in the right panel.

  2. Drag a block onto the left canvas:

    • 1 Column: Best for main titles, long announcements, and buttons.

    • 2 Columns: Best if you want an image on the left and text on the right.

Step 3: Add Your Content (Content)

Click the Content tab on the right. Drag and drop the tools you need directly into your layout:

Icon / Tool

What does it do?

When to use it?

HEADING

Large bold text

For main titles (e.g., "New Gym Rules").

PARAGRAPH

Regular text

For body text and explanations.

BUTTON

Clickable button

For call-to-actions (e.g., "Read More" or "Sign Up").

IMAGE

Picture / Logo

For adding your logo at the top or a hero image.

DIVIDER

Horizontal line

To separate different sections and create structure.

Step 4: Make Complex Text Easy to Read

If you need to send long guidelines or rules, avoid the "wall of text" trap:

  • Hard to read: A single, dense block of text with no spacing or emphasis.

  • Easy to read: * Short paragraphs.

    • Use bold text for key details (e.g., 08:00 – 16:30 or ZERO TOLERANCE).

    • Use bullet points for rules and requirements.

Step 5: Check Mobile Preview & Send!

  1. Check Mobile View: Click the small Mobile Icon at the bottom-left corner. Most people read emails on their phone, so make sure it looks great on small screens!

  2. Test Links: Ensure all buttons and hyperlinks work correctly.
