I accidentally switched on Overwrite translations and lost content

Written by Ronny Christensen

Problem

You switched on Overwrite translations and saved the blog post, and existing translations of the article have now been replaced with the new content.

Possible cause

The Overwrite translations toggle is designed to replace existing translations of an article across all languages when you save. If it was switched on by mistake, the existing translations are replaced with the current content.

Solution

  1. Contact your team — someone may have a backup or remember the original content.

  2. Check whether the content can be restored from an external source (for example, a document or email).

  3. In future: leave the Overwrite translations toggle switched off unless you specifically intend to replace all translations.

If the problem persists, contact support and include details about:

  • Which languages are affected.

  • What the replaced content was about.

  • When the issue occurred.
