The Recipe views let you build a library of dishes with exact nutrition, and then put those dishes into the meal plans of your clients. You never type the nutrition of a recipe. The system calculates it from the foods and the grams that you add.
Three parts work together:
Foods: single ingredients, with nutrition values per 100 g (for example "Rolled oats").
Recipes: dishes made of foods and grams, with servings, instructions, and an image.
Nutrition plans and templates: the plans that give recipes and foods to a client as sample meals (suggested meals for a day and a meal slot).
You cannot send a recipe to a member directly. A recipe reaches a member only as a sample meal inside a nutrition plan. Section 5 describes all the ways to do this.
To create or edit recipes, you must have one of these roles: Owner, Box manager, Floor manager, or Personal trainer. The "Coach" role can only look at recipes. Your gym must also have the Coach package.
Where to find the views
In the Dashboard sidebar, open Coaching, then Nutrition. The Nutrition group holds four pages: Nutrition plans, Nutrition templates, Recipes, and Foods. Check-ins is directly under Coaching.
The Coaching section shows only to Owners, Box managers, and Personal trainers. A Floor manager can edit recipes but does not see the section in the sidebar.
There is no separate details page. When you open a recipe, you go to its edit page. A system recipe opens read-only, with the title "View recipe".
The recipe list
The list has these filters.
Search recipes: finds recipes by name only.
Language: shows recipes in one language, or "All languages".
Source: "All recipes", "Our recipes" (made by your gym), or "System recipes".
Show archived: also shows recipes that were deleted.
The columns are Name, Language, Servings, kcal / serving, Protein / serving, and Archived. A "System recipe" chip marks recipes from Booking Board. Your gym's recipes come first, then the system recipes, sorted by name. You can show 10, 25, 50, or 100 rows on a page.
Each row has two actions. Use the pen icon to edit your own recipe, or the eye icon to view a system recipe. Use the trash icon to delete a recipe. You cannot delete a system recipe.
The list has no copy action, no restore action, and no bulk actions. If your gym has no recipes yet, the page shows "No recipes yet" and a "New recipe" button.
Structure of a recipe
A recipe has one language, a list of ingredients in grams, and nutrition that the system calculates. The form has four cards on the left: Details, Ingredients, Instructions, and Allergens and diets. On the right, a summary card shows the nutrition, and a Language card holds the recipe language.
Details
Field | Required | Rules |
Name | Yes | At most 256 characters. Example: "Overnight oats with berries". |
Description | No | Formatted text, at most 1024 characters. |
Servings | Yes | A whole number, 1 or more. Default: 1. |
Prep minutes | No | 0 or more. Time to chop, mix, and prepare. |
Cook minutes | No | 0 or more. Time on the stove or in the oven. |
Hero image | No | One photo of the finished dish, cropped to 16:9, at most 50 MB. |
Ingredients
Each ingredient is one food and a weight in grams. The system stores every ingredient in grams. A portion (a kitchen measure such as "1 large" or "1 cup") only helps you fill in the grams.
Field | Required | Rules |
Food | Yes | Search the food database. You can also create a new food from here. |
Portion | No | Shows only if the food has portions. Select "Grams only" or a measure. |
Quantity | No | The number of portions. Default: 1. It fills in the grams for you. |
Grams | Yes | More than 0. The nutrition uses this value. |
Amount label | No | At most 64 characters, for example "2 × 1 large". It does not change the totals. |
The order of the ingredients is the order that the member sees. Use Move up and Move down to change it.
Instructions
The instructions are one formatted text field of at most 8000 characters. There are no separate step rows. Write numbered steps in the text if you want steps.
Nutrition
The system calculates nutrition each time that you save. For each ingredient, it takes the food values per 100 g and multiplies them by grams ÷ 100. Then it adds the results.
Calculated values: kcal, protein, carbs, and fat. Also fiber, sodium, sugar, and saturated fat, if the foods have them.
Per serving: the total divided by the number of servings.
Rounding: kcal and sodium to whole numbers, the other values to one decimal.
The summary card shows "Per serving" and "Whole recipe" values. Before the first save, it shows no numbers.
Allergens and diets
The system also derives (works out) allergens and dietary styles from the foods. A recipe has every allergen of every ingredient. A recipe has a dietary style (for example vegan) only if all its ingredients have it.
You can see this card only after the first save. If the derived values are wrong, turn on "Override allergens" or "Override dietary styles". Then select the correct values. Your values replace the derived values when you save.
Language
Each recipe has one language. The default is your Dashboard language. If you need the same dish in two languages, create two recipes.
System recipes
A large library of system recipes are supplied in English and Danish. You can use them in meal plans, but you cannot change or delete them. If you need a changed version, create your own recipe with the same ingredients.
How to create a recipe
You create the recipe in two saves. The first save calculates the nutrition. The second save lets you correct allergens and diets.
In the sidebar, open Coaching, then Nutrition, then Recipes.
Click "New recipe".
Type the Name and the number of Servings.
Optional: add a Description, Prep minutes, Cook minutes, and a Hero image.
In the Language card, select the language of the recipe.
In the Ingredients card, click "Add ingredient".
In the Food field, type a part of the food name, and select the food.
If the food is not in the list, select "Add new food". A short food form opens with your text as the name.
Fill in the name, the kcal, and the protein, carbs, and fat per 100 g. Then save the food.
Type the Grams. If the food has portions, you can select a Portion and a Quantity instead.
Do steps 6 to 8 again for each ingredient.
In the Instructions card, write the cooking steps.
Click "Create". The page shows "Create success!" and opens the edit page.
Read the nutrition in the summary card. If a value looks wrong, look at the grams of each ingredient.
In the Allergens and diets card, read the derived values. If they are wrong, turn on the override and select the correct values.
Click "Save". The page shows "Update success!".
Edit a recipe
Open the recipe from the list with the pen icon, make the changes, and click "Save". The system calculates the nutrition again.
If a recipe is in a client plan, the plan shows your change immediately. Plans keep a link to the recipe, not a copy.
Delete a recipe
Click the trash icon and confirm. The recipe is archived, not removed.
If you delete a recipe, you cannot restore it. Plans that already use it keep it, and members still see it in their sample meals for today. It no longer shows in the recipe pickers or in the member recipe browser. To see it in the list, turn on "Show archived".
Create or edit a food
Open Coaching, then Nutrition, then Foods, and click the button to create a food. The food form has these parts:
Food details: Name (required), Brand, and Category (for example Vegetables or Dairy).
Nutrition per 100 g: kcal, Protein, Carbs, and Fat are required. Copy them from the package label. Saturated fat, fiber, sugar, and sodium are optional.
Portions: kitchen measures with a name and grams, for example "1 slice" = 30 g. Each name must be unique, and grams must be more than 0 and at most 2000. A food can have at most 50 portions.
Allergens & dietary: the allergens and dietary styles of the food. Recipes derive their values from these.
Translations: the name, brand, and portion labels in other languages.
You can edit only foods that your gym owns. System foods are read-only, but you can use them in recipes. A deleted food is archived, and you can restore it from the food list.
Ways to assign food to members
A recipe or a food reaches a member only as a sample meal inside a phase of a nutrition plan. A phase is a period of the plan with its own goals and meals. You can create the plan directly, or apply a nutrition template that holds the meals.
A template holds sample meals too. When you apply it, the system copies the meals into a new plan for each member.
The sample meal
Each sample meal has these fields. You add sample meals with "Add meal" inside a phase.
Field | Required | Rules |
Days | Yes | One or more weekdays. Default: Monday. The system saves one meal for each day. |
Meal | Yes | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack, Pre-workout, or Post-workout. Default: Breakfast. |
Meal source | Yes | "Recipe" or "Food". Select exactly one recipe or one food. |
Servings | No | More than 0. If empty, the member gets 1 serving. |
Note | No | At most 512 characters, for example "Use skimmed milk". |
Sample meals have no clock times, only meal slots. A plan without phases cannot have sample meals. Add a phase first.
The recipe picker shows all recipes of your gym and the system recipes in your Dashboard language. If the recipe does not exist yet, select "Create new recipe". It opens the recipe form in a new browser tab, so that you do not lose the plan.
The six ways
Way | Where | Best for |
New nutrition plan, from scratch | Nutrition plans, "New nutrition plan" | One client with special needs |
New nutrition plan, from a template | Nutrition plans, "New nutrition plan", "From a template" | One client, with a standard plan as a start |
Member profile | The Nutrition tab on the member profile, "New plan" | Starting from the client you are looking at |
Apply a template | Nutrition templates, "Apply" on a template card | The same plan for up to 100 members at once |
Coaching engagement | The engagement hub, "Apply nutrition template" | A client in a coaching engagement with no plan yet |
Journey template | A journey stage of the type "Nutrition template" | Automatic plans when a member reaches that stage |
Create a plan from scratch
Open Coaching, then Nutrition, then Nutrition plans.
Click "New nutrition plan".
In Client, select the member.
Under Start, select "From scratch", and set the Start date.
Type a Name, and optionally an End date and "Notes for the client".
Set the Daily targets. "Suggest macros" can calculate them for you.
Click "Add phase", and set the goals of the phase.
In the phase, click "Add meal" for each sample meal.
Click "Create plan".
Apply a template
Open Coaching, then Nutrition, then Nutrition templates.
On the card of a published template, click "Apply".
In Members, select one or more members, at most 100.
Set the Start date.
Click "Apply".
If a member has a dietary profile that conflicts with a meal, you see "Possible dietary conflict". The button then shows "Apply anyway". Read the warning before you continue.
The template must be published. A published template cannot go back to Draft. Applying a template copies its phases, goals, and sample meals into a new active plan for each member. The end date is the start date plus the template duration.
Keep plans in sync with a template
If someone changes a template, plans made from it show "Template update available". Click "Sync from template" to see a preview. Then select one of three modes:
Additive: adds the new parts of the template.
Structural (preserve edits): updates the structure but keeps your changes to the plan.
Force overwrite: replaces the plan with the template. This removes your changes to the plan.
You cannot copy one member's plan to another member. To reuse a plan, make it a template, or clone an existing template.
What the member sees
In the mobile app, the member sees the sample meals for today in the active phase of their active plan, in meal order. If a meal conflicts with their dietary profile, the app marks it. Members can also browse recipes from their gym and system recipes in their language.
Other things to know
Who sees what
Recipes and foods belong to your gym. You see your gym's items and the system items from Booking Board. Other gyms cannot see your recipes, and you cannot see theirs.
Role | See the Coaching menu | Create and edit recipes |
Owner | Yes | Yes |
Box manager | Yes | Yes |
Personal trainer | Yes | Yes |
Floor manager | No | Yes |
Coach | No | No, read only |
Tips
Weigh the ingredients raw, and use the grams for the whole recipe. The servings then divide the totals.
Add portions to the foods that you use often. Then you can select "1 large" instead of typing grams.
Use a clear name and the correct language. Coaches find recipes by name and language in the pickers.
Search the system recipes before you create a new recipe. There are about 400 of them.
Add a hero image of the finished dish.
Known limits
If you change a food, recipes that use it do not update. Open each recipe and click "Save" to calculate its nutrition again.
You cannot restore a deleted recipe. Make sure that you want to delete it before you confirm.
A deleted recipe stays in existing plans. Remove it from the plans yourself if members must not see it.
The recipe list has no copy action. To make a version of a recipe, create a new recipe.
