How to verify your domain with a TXT record in Bookipi AI Website Builder

Learn how to verify your domain for tools like Google Search Console, Meta Business, and Pinterest using a TXT record.

Some tools need to confirm you own your domain before they'll connect to it. They do this by asking you to add a short piece of text, called a TXT record, to your domain. You can add this directly from your Bookipi dashboard, no need to log into your domain registrar.

When you'll need this

  • Google Search Console: to track your site's search performance and get alerts about indexing issues.

  • Meta Business: to verify your domain for running Facebook and Instagram ads, or for domain-level ad tracking.

  • Pinterest: to claim your website so your pins show your profile and site analytics.

  • Any other tool that asks you to verify domain ownership or add a TXT record to confirm you own your site.

Steps

Step 1: Get your verification code

Go to the tool you want to connect, for example Google Search Console, Meta Business, or Pinterest, and find its site or domain verification settings. Look for a step called something like "Verify with DNS record" and copy the code it gives you. It usually starts with something like google-site-verification= or facebook-domain-verification=.

Step 2: Click 'Website'

Access the 'Website' option in the left-hand panel of the Bookipi Web app.

Step 3: Click 'Domain'

From the tabs at the top of your website page, select 'Domain'.

Step 4: Click 'Add' under 'Add TXT record'

Scroll down to the 'More' section and find the 'Add TXT record' card.

Step 5: Paste your code and click 'Add'

Paste the verification code exactly as the service gave it to you, then click 'Add' to save it.

Your record is now saved! Go back to the service you're verifying and click its 'Verify' button there.

FAQs

Q: How long does verification take?

A: Most of the time, it completes within a few minutes. In some cases it can take longer, since domain changes can take up to 48 hours to fully take effect.

Q: What if I see "We can't add this one automatically"?

A: This means the code doesn't look like a TXT verification code Bookipi recognises. Double check you copied the whole code from the service, with nothing missing or extra. If it still doesn't work, use the 'Send to support' link that appears and our team will add it for you.

Q: The other service still says "not verified", what do I do?

A: This is almost always a timing issue. Wait a little while and try verifying again from that service. If it's been longer than 48 hours, contact us and we'll take a look.

Q: Can I remove a record I've added?

A: Yes. Find it in the list on the 'Add TXT record' card and remove it there. You'll have a few seconds to undo the removal if you change your mind.

Q: Does this support other record types, like CNAME?

A: No, Bookipi only supports TXT record verification, which covers the large majority of domain ownership checks. If a service specifically asks for a different record type, contact support and we'll help you find the right approach.
