In order to comply with CAN-SPAMS laws, leads that register on your BoomTown website must have the option to unsubscribe from emails, in the event that they want to opt out of communication.
Within their My Account settings on their end, leads will have the choice to opt out of specific email types individually or opt out of all email types globally.
If a lead elects to opt out of email communication through an email sent, they'll be directed to their profile to select their settings.
The three choices available to leads are:
Email communication from the real estate team (Agents and Broker/Admins)
Email communication from the sponsored local lender (Lenders and Lender Admins)
Listing e-Alerts for saved searches (e-Alerts)
When a lead opts-out of communication through one or all of the options above, a note will be logged in the History section of the lead's profile detailing the opt out type (as below), and an email notification will be sent to the users associated with the lead.
Resubscribe Lead
Depending upon which emails your lead has opted out of in the system, helping them resubscribe will differ slightly. If they've only opted out of one or two types of emails, the directions here will walk through how to get them opted back in!
If they've globally opted out of emails, the steps below will assist in those cases!
Globally Opted-Out Leads
If a lead has selected to globally opt out of communication, there will be an option available in their profile to send an email to resubscribe.
To access this, navigate to the lead's profile page, and go to the Edit Profile tab.
Within the tab, in the bottom section, a notification will display, and an option for you to send the lead an invitation to opt back in.
Select the Send Invitation to Opt In button, and a prompt will display asking to confirm.
Select OK, and an email will send to your lead. Once received, it will look generally like this:
The click here hyperlink in the email will take them to the Email Preferences section of their account page, so they can update their preferences from there, and save the changes!
Resubscribe to Emails & Text Messages
If you have a lead that you're working with that has decided to unsubscribe themselves from email communication, in order to have them opt back in to communication through the system, the change will need to be made on their end through their profile page on your website.
The page that leads need to access to resubscribe to emails will be the same one they accessed initially to unsubscribe, so the process and page should look familiar!
One way to help expedite the process is to send the lead an invitation to opt back in, through their profile -- however, this option will only be available when a lead has globally opted out of email communication through BoomTown.
To easily help walk your lead through the process, regardless of which emails they've opted out of, they will first need to log into their user account on your BoomTown website.
This can be done by having them select the Sign In button in the right-hand corner of the page, and entering their login email address and password.
Your lead's login email address will be listed within the Edit Profile tab of their lead profile when accessed from a desktop. You will also have the option within the Edit Profile page to resend the lead's password to their email address, just in case!
Once signed in, in the right-hand corner it will say Hi, [Visitor First Name]. This button can be selected to access their My Account information.
On the My Account page, the lead can scroll down beneath the Contact Information section displayed at the top, to the Email Preferences area.
When the lead selects this, they will be able to update their email preferences for all three types of email communication:
Emails from Agents
Emails from Lenders
Listing e-Alert emails
They just need to ensure that the Subscribe radio button is selected for each type of email they do want to receive, and then select Update Email Preferences.
Then, the changes to their email status should be updated in their lead profile, and they should be all set to receive emails from you moving forward!
Resubscribe to Text Messages
