Interpreter Onboarding Guide

This guide walks LSC Administrators through adding and enabling interpreters and setting their permissions, plus suggestions for vetting prospective interpreters.

Step 1: Add interpreters

Each interpreter needs a valid email address to authenticate their account.

1. Sign in as an LSC admin and navigate to Members>Interpreters.

2. Select Invite your team. You can invite up to 50 interpreters at a time.

3. Enter each interpreter’s email and select Add, then select Send.

Each interpreter receives an authentication email prompting them to verify their address and create a password.

Step 2: Enable interpreters

After authenticating, an interpreter starts in a disabled status so they can be vetted and trained first. Check their status in the Status column:

  • Invited — sent an invitation but hasn’t authenticated. Authentication links expire in 24 hours; resend from the user’s account page if it lapses.

  • Deactivated — deactivated by an administrator; can’t sign in or take calls. Reactivate from their account page.

  • Enabled — authenticated and not deactivated. (Being enabled doesn’t mean permissions are set.)

Step 3: Set interpreter permissions

  1. Open the interpreter’s profile and select the Permissions tab.

  2. If the interpreter has listed their languages, select a language pair and select Approve.

  3. If they haven’t, select the communication type and select Add Permission, then choose Language 1 and Language 2 (all language pairs are bi-directional).

Note: Interpreters can take calls with any service type except Legal, Medical, and Court — those must be added explicitly under Specialized Types.

4. Once at least one language pair is added, select Edit to configure the interpreter’s communication types.

The interpreter can now receive calls and onsite appointments based on the permissions you set.

Technical vetting (suggestions)

Before an interpreter takes live calls, it’s worth confirming their device and network. Capture at minimum their device specifications for compliance and troubleshooting:

  • Windows — run system information (for example, msinfo32) to capture device details.

  • Mac — capture the equivalent system information.

  • Network — run a firewall and bandwidth test to confirm the interpreter can reach the Boostlingo server with enough bandwidth for video. A wired (LAN) connection is recommended over Wi-Fi.

Note: A network test is a point-in-time check. Router/ISP changes, other apps and devices using bandwidth, weather, hardware issues, and antivirus software can all affect performance later.

Next steps / Getting more help

  • To edit an interpreter’s profile details, see the “How to edit interpreter profile as LSC Admin” guide in the Settings & Configuration documentation.

  • For LSC admins: if an enabled interpreter still can’t take calls, confirm their permissions are set, then reach out to Boostlingo Support with the interpreter’s name. If you’re unsure how to reach Support, contact your Account Manager.
