Create a ticketing setup

Learn what a ticket setup is, how to create one for your events, and how to build multi-use options like weekend passes.

A ticket setup defines the ticket options, prices, and settings that events use when selling admission. You build one setup and apply it to the events that share those tickets, allowing you to configure pricing and rules once rather than per event.

Create a Ticket Setup

  1. Open the events area, click the Ticketing tab, then the Setups tab.

  2. Click Manage Ticketing in the top right corner.

  3. Select Add Ticketing Setup from the dropdown.

Details

*Leave Single-Use Ticket selected.

  1. Enter a Setup Name. Use something descriptive, such as Varsity Admission or Football Admission.

  2. Set the School Year to the year the event falls in.

  3. Enter a Description (optional). This appears on the ticketing checkout screen on the web and in the app, and can hold information about the event or the ticketing process.

  4. Enter a Disclaimer (optional). This appears on the checkout screen in a yellow box that signals a warning, and is often used for specific ticket policies such as refunds.

  5. Click Continue.

Configure

Set the technology, payout, and fee handling for the setup.

  1. Choose the Ticket Technology: a scannable QR Code or a Tap Button that appears on the ticket. For help deciding, see: Which ticketing setup is right for my school.

  2. Confirm the Stripe Account. This is preset to the Bound Stripe Account.

  3. Select a Payee from the dropdown. This is the payee that receives the money from events using this setup.

  4. Set Upcharge Processing Fee. This is toggled on by default.

    • On: the fee is passed to the purchaser. A $5.00 ticket costs the purchaser $5.90, and the school is paid out $5.00.

    • Off: the fee is deducted from the ticket price. A $5.00 ticket costs the purchaser $5.00, and the school is paid out $4.10.

Additional Settings

These settings apply only in specific situations and usually do not need to be adjusted.

  • Gate Checkout Receipt: Toggled on by default. It shows name and email fields in the checkout area of the admin web box office. These are not required to finish a checkout; they appear in case someone at the gate wants a receipt.

  • Useable Across Districts: Applies only to schools that live under a district with multiple schools. It typically applies more to pass setups.

  • Allow Complimentary Tickets: When on, the admin box office checkout screen shows a button for sending complimentary tickets.

Options

Set the ticket options, prices, and per-option settings.

  1. Click Add Ticket Option.

  2. Enter an Option Name, such as Adult Admission or Football Admission.

  3. Choose a Type. This is a general flag for the type of ticket; select what fits the option.

  4. Set the Usage Type:

    • Single Use: A ticket that can be used once. Most events use this. A ticket bought for Friday's track meet is used for entry and never again.

    • Multi-Use Ticket: Works like a mini pass. Many setups will not need this. See the multi-use example below.

  5. Set Restrict Usage Date (optional). This limits the dates a ticket can be activated, which is useful for a setup valid only on a specific date or range.

  6. Enter the Fee (the price for this ticket option).

  7. Set Available Online. This is on by default, making the option available on the web and in the Bound app. Toggle it off to make the option available at the gate only.

  8. Adjust Button Color and Activated Color (optional) to change the ticket's color when purchased and after activation.

  9. Click Add Option. Add more options as needed, then click Continue to move to the review step.

(Optional) Multi-Use Example: Weekend Tournament

This optional example shows how to use a multi-use ticket. Skip it if it does not apply to you.

Imagine a softball tournament across two days where the school wants a Saturday ticket, a Sunday ticket, and a weekend pass good for both days. Set it up as three options.

Saturday Ticket

  1. Create a new option and name it Saturday Ticket.

  2. Leave it as a Single Use Ticket.

  3. Restrict the date to the Saturday of the event.

  4. Add the remaining information and click Add Option.

Sunday Ticket

Create it the same way as the Saturday Ticket, adjusting the date.

Weekend Pass

  1. Create a new option and name it Weekend Pass.

  2. Choose the Multi-Use type.

  3. Set the reactivation date:

    • Next Day: the ticket can be used again after midnight.

    • Custom Hours: set the number of hours until the ticket can be reused.

  4. Set the usage date to the range the pass should cover.

Note: For this setup to work, the event must be a single multi-day event with all competitions tied to it. For more information, see event-specific help articles.

Review and Save

Review the option details and pricing on the final page. When everything is correct, click Create Setup.
