Boutique Backup: Damage Protection Coverage

Effective January 1, 2026, Boutique Backup will provide comprehensive protection for your property through proactive guest screening and up to $1 million dollars in damage coverage for bookings made through our platform.

What is Boutique Backup?

Boutique Backup is our two-part approach to protecting your property:

Prevention: We automatically screen every primary booker using professional risk checks against a database of over one million guests. This GDPR-compliant process runs invisibly in the background guests never see it. If a booking is flagged, Boutique steps in and handles it internally.

Protection: If accidental or negligent damage does occur, you're covered up to $1,000,000 per booking. Coverage is administered by our trusted third-party partner and applies automatically to confirmed booking no additional enrollment required.

Together, these measures reduce both incidents and your involvement, so you can focus on hosting.

Important: Boutique Backup is not an insurance policy and doesn't replace your own property or liability insurance, which you should maintain at all times.

How Guest Screening Works

Every booking is automatically checked using:

  • Professional risk assessment tools

  • A database of 1+ million guest profiles

  • Automated flagging of high-risk reservations

You don't need to do anything. The process is:

  • ✓ Fully automated and centrally managed

  • ✓ GDPR-compliant and privacy-focused

  • ✓ Invisible to guests

This screening layer works to prevent damage before it happens, with our damage protection coverage providing backup if needed.

What's Covered under Damage Protection?

Boutique Backup damage coverage protects against accidental or negligent physical damage to your property caused by guests, including:

  • Broken furniture or fixtures

  • Stained or damaged linens and soft furnishings

  • Damaged appliances or electronics

  • Structural damage (walls, floors, windows, doors)

  • Broken or missing items
