Adding Assets to BrandKeep

Assets are at the core of BrandKeep and the reason why you are here; to help keep you organized.

Updated over a week ago

Assets are files that are associated with a brand. Examples of assets are spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, PDFs, images, videos, documents, etc. You can add any type of file that you would like.

Assets added to BrandKeep can be accessed by your whole team.

Steps in the article are:

There are a variety of ways that assets can be added to BrandKeep:

  • As a file from your computer

  • From a link that a brand has provided to you

  • Using a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive

  • Sending the asset using KeepMail (see this article)

  • Receiving an asset via a B2B API (see this article)

Assets can be added to a brand card, which assigns that asset to that brand. They can also be added on the Assets dashboard, which DOES NOT assign the asset to a brand.

Assets work best when associated with a brand. If an asset is added from the Assets dashboard you can still easily edit and assign it to a brand - more on that below. Please note that an asset can only be associated with one brand.

Assets added by sending an email using your KeepMail, or receiving an asset via a B2b API, work a bit different than the other methods described here. To learn more about how KeepMail works, please visit this article. To learn more about a B2B API, please visit this article.

Assets that are new or that have been updated by a teammate display a small red notification next to their name. You'll also see a notification next to the brand name if the new/updated content is associated with a brand. The notification will be dismissed once you have navigated away from the page.

Please note: When attempting to view files within Brandkeep, some files are unsupported, such as video (.mov, .mp4) and photoshop (.psd) files.

Adding assets to a brand card

When assets are added to a brand card they are automatically associated with that brand. To add assets to a brand card, first navigate to the Brands dashboard and click on the brand you would like to add an asset to.

On the brand card, click the Brand Assets tab and then click on the + Asset button.

Choose which method to add your asset; using either a link, a file from your computer or tablet, or importing from Dropbox or Google Drive.

Adding assets using a link

  • Adding an asset link doesn’t bring the asset into BrandKeep. This is generally used as a hyperlink to a brand’s cloud service which then allows you to download the asset from that destination.

  • When adding an asset using a link, you are presented with a window that allows you to add many links as assets. Provide a detailed name of the link, the URL, and an asset category if desired. Then click Create.

Adding an file asset from your computer or tablet

  • To add assets from your computer you can drag assets from your files into the window. You’ll see the filenames for those files in the window. Click Upload to add the files

  • You can also click on the window to open up the files on your computer and add them.

Adding assets from Dropbox

  • To add files from Dropbox click on Add from Dropbox. This will open a new tab on your browser to sign in to your cloud service. Once you’ve logged in, locate the file or files you would like to add. This will add those files to the brand card.

Adding assets from Google Drive

  • To add files from Google Drive click on Add from Google Drive. This will open a pop up window in your browser to sign in to your cloud service. Once you’ve logged in, locate the file or files you would like to add. This will add those files to the brand card.

Adding assets to the Assets dashboard

To add assets to the Assets dashboard, first navigate to the Assets dashboard and then click on the + Asset button.

Please note: Assets uploaded to the Assets dashboard are brand agnostic. After you upload, to add a brand to an asset, click on the asset row's action menu to edit the asset and select a brand.
