If your holiday increases with length in service then you will need to set up a holiday allowance so that the system can automatically increase the amount of holiday the employee is entitled to.

Creating the holiday allowance

Start by adding the starting holiday allowance in year 0. Keep adding the starting amount until you get to the year you would like it to increase. Then, each year, add the amount of holiday you would like your employees to receive. Make sure you populate all the boxes up to year 10.

The increase to the employee's holiday allowance will happen on the first day of the holiday year and not on the employee's work anniversary.

Please note: year 0 covers the period from the employee's join date to the end of that first holiday year.

So, if you would like to increase the entitlement after the employee has completed 2 full years of service, you would need to make the increase in year 3.

FAQ's

I need to reflect an allowance that exceeds 10 years of service

If you need to reflect length in service holiday allowances that exceed 10 years of service, a HR user will need to manually adjust this for the employee/s at the beginning of each holiday year.

I need to reflect a length in service allowance, but I don't want the increased day to occur on the first day of the new holiday year

If you need to reflect a length in service holiday allowance that does not come into effect at the beginning of each new holiday year within Breathe, we would advise making manual adjustments to the relevant employee/s allowance on the date the increased day needs to be reflected on.

Our notes and reminders feature can send you a prompt on the specified date:

The other option would be to create and assign the employee a new allowance (reflecting their increased amount of leave) every year, if you wanted to.
