On every employee's profile there is a pay area, which you can access via Employee Profile > More Tab > Pay.

The pay tab consists of four different areas pay, benefits, additional payments and bank details that you can use to record all the remuneration information for the employee.

Who can see the pay section?

You can allow employees to see their own pay details. Under the Configure > Settings > Permissions and Approvals > Display Settings > allow 'employees can see their own remuneration'. This means employees will only be able to access their own salary information. They cannot view other employee's salaries.

Line managers may be able to see their employee's salaries, this depends on the permissions you have set up for them. Configure > Settings > Permissions and Approvals > Line Managers > Remuneration > you can tick to allow them to view, manage or delete their employee's salaries. If you leave this blank they cannot view salaries.

What about HR users?

On the micro and starter plan, HR users can access salary information as they have Finance permissions. However, if you are on the regular, pro or premium plans the Finance permissions are separate so you will need to assign HR users with Finance permissions.

What does FTE mean?

The FTE index enables companies to assign a measurable value to their part-time workers in relation to their full-time colleagues.

This can prove really useful when trying to work out pro-rata'd benefits such as holidays.

FTE stands for full-time equivalent.

An FTE of 1 represents a full-time employee according to the standard working hours of your company.

And an FTE of 0.5 represents a part-time employee working exactly half the hours of the standard.

Example - A full-time worker does 40 hours/week. They will represent that company's FTE of 1.

A part-time worker at that same company does 15 hours/week. Their FTE therefore will be 15/40 = 0.375.
