Who can manage sickness?

Whether or not someone can manage other people's sickness depends on the permissions they've been given within Breathe.

You can allow your people to log their own sickness by heading over to Configure > Settings > Permissions and approvals > Change what people can see and do.

You can also allow line managers to view and approve their team's sickness records. Again, to do this, head over to the Permissions and approvals section within your settings.

If neither of these settings have been ticked, sickness management will default to your HR user(s).

Here are some helpful guides on this:

Explaining sickness statuses

When you view a sickness record on someone's profile, you'll see a selection of status options:

'Open' - this person has just logged a sickness and is currently off sick.

'Returned to work' - This person has returned to work after a period of sickness, however the sickness is still being dealt with so hasn't yet been closed.

'Query raised' - This person has returned to work after a period of sickness, but more information about this sickness is needed before it can be closed.

'Closed/completed' - This person has returned to work and no further action/information is needed. Once the sickness is closed, it'll be added to the total number of absences for this person. Related documents can still be added at a later date, if needed.
