If a payment was logged or scheduled by mistake, you can cancel it yourself from the Guide Payments tab — but only if it hasn't been processed yet.
Check the timing first — you may already be too late to cancel.
An automatic payment can only be canceled before Stripe processes it. Automatic payments begin processing at 11:59 PM MT on the scheduled payout date. Once processing starts, the funds are already moving and the payment can no longer be canceled in Brindlechute.
To check before you cancel, go to Guide Payments › Payment Batches and find the batch. If it has already been executed, the funds have left the account and the payment cannot be canceled here — reach out to our support team instead.
Manually logged payments are records only, with no funds attached, so they can be canceled at any time.
To cancel a payment:
Go to the Guide Payments tab.
Find the payment and click the ⋮ menu at the end of the row.
Select Cancel payment.
You can cancel:
Manually logged payments — at any time.
Automatic payments — only while they are still unprocessed by Stripe.
Canceling a payment returns it to Unpaid, so you can correct the amount or payment method and pay again.
Canceling returns the payment to Unpaid — and the next payment follows the guide's current settings.
When you cancel a payment and pay again, the new payment uses whatever payment method is set on the guide's profile at that moment, not the method that was in place when the original payment was created. If you switched a guide from Manual to Automatic after their payment was already logged, that payment will stay Manual until you cancel it. Cancel it, then pay again, and it will go out as an automatic payout.
A manual payment is only a record that the guide was paid — no money moves through Brindlechute. If you meant to pay through Brindlechute, cancel the manual entry, confirm the guide's payment method shows Automatic on their profile, and send the payment again.
